Do you have a need to be nice or would you rather speak your mind?

I think it's possible to still speak your mind while remaining polite, which is generally what I do unless I feel the need to do otherwise.

I speak my mind in a polite manner, at least I try to.

That generally means I water down what I want to say just a little to prevent people from feeling offended or attacked.

I do that mostly because I don't want to deal with the drama that comes from people feeling offended.

I do agree that you can be both, but looking at your opening post I can see that you mean 'polite' as in sugar-coating what you say, which I don't like nor do I understand: there's never a wrong or right with opinions so why not just be honest?

Frankness and politeness aren't mutually exclusive though.

People are much more likely to be receptive to your views if you are frank but mindful enough to frame your thoughts in a non-offensive way. Whereas if you just blurt out what's on your mind and it comes across as rude, your views are likely to be ignored regardless of their validity.

Well I see how most people here tell "ugly" people in the show us your cute face thread that they are beautiful and it's obvious that they don't speak their real opinion about them, anyways both things don't exclude each other, you can voice your opinion in a nice way and just not you are so fucking gaaaaaayy though most people here should try to become like me because it seems like I'm the only one here who can articulate clearly and bring my points without pointless insults across. Another reason is probably the reputation system some people are scared about their popularity in a k-pop forum so they force themselves to be nice..

This. I see no need to be blatantly rude to anyone, so I usually find a polite way to say negative things. (This is assuming that the person doesn't deserve rudeness)

WELL it depends like say if your close with them

then just peak your mind cause you know they will accpet your criticism

but if your not close to them

then you'll be better off just being polite even though

you dislike watever they just did

or else if you are just not bothered dont do anything

cause sometimes...

I say what I want but depending on the person, I find a way to express it that I see ideal. I don't like people with an "I'm brutally honest and speak my mind cause I fear no one." attitude. Like, what are you trying to prove?
