The Official Dota 2 Thread

Nexon announced a prize pool of 1,700,000 USD spread over leagues in only 1 year to celebrate Dota 2's launch in Korea. I hope it's Korean only tourney so the DotA scene can grow in Korea.

The most popular Newspaper in china also announced an up and coming societal change sort of thing with Dota 2 as the spearhead (will include other games like LoL and SC2 and etc but they were not specifically mentioned) and I think a tourney is gonna be taking place

Dota 2, according to director Erik Johnson, will be released in the summer before TI3 as said in pc magazine I believe.

Love the news, serious to expand to Asian markets (nexon distributing to Korea + Japan) and perfect world quickly releasing Dota 2 to china as I type this. Can't wait to see this game grow even bigger. I wonder if valve will keep their policy of having mostly Valve-independent tourneys (as in, prize pool and advertising and equipment not being provided by valve) but I like the approach. I hope to see some good competition between Dota and LoL.

yo thats awesome news. Koreans love technical and precise plays. i would love to see some Koreans dota i think they have the potential to be huge.

can we take a minute to express our frustrations at how bullshit Medusa's ulti is now? literally nothing stops it. i don't even know what to do anymore. i vsed a batrider/med combo last night.. that was not fun at all we dominate the game but cant break the base because we couldn't get pass the ulti. was a 70 min stalemate

Only korean player I watched playing past few months is SeleCT. But I think he left the scene to enter back into competitive SC2. Lol.

  • 2 weeks later...

when dota 2 gets released in Korea, there will be dedicated pro teams for it and like LoL the korean teams will most likely shoot up to top of the eastern scene. thats my prediction anyway, and i would love to see soshi playing dota mang, i will die a happy man when i see Sunny trolling around with pudge in the CFs

Na'vi is never gona recover. They need LOH back. Puppey, Kuroky, Dendi, Hvost and LOH would have made an incredible team.

Tongfu seriously looking strong

Pretty sure it's gonna be a clean sweep for alliance anyways.

Alliance lost to Virtus.pro

But they are an entertaining bunch to watch and definitely the only hope for the west

could have been just an unlucky day unless they losing to VP consistently.

either way, i don't see iG doing well this time.   LGD is on fire right now but Alliance beat them in Super league i  believe

We should make a onehallyu chat channel? Would any one else like that ?

Would not mind. But it'll probably end up dead, I would think.

Myself, not particularly interested in competitive DotA. I may watch a highlights video after it ends or something, I seem to be getting quite bored of Dota 2 recently though. Perhaps I'm just not playing with the right people. I need more lively friends to play with. Some are too serious, some are incompetent and suck, some don't speak at all. SIFUOSFUSI. Creys. Freakin' people.

Anyone a PlayDotA member?

Probably I kinda just switched from Starcraft 2 to Dota. I played Starcraft 2 for 3 years but I got bored of it. I tried playing LOL I didn't really like it, Dota is a lot of fun for me. Except even though i live in Canada I get something like 115ping so I just queue on Europe. It does help that I speak french as well.

115 ping is alright, could be better. Most certainly better than what I got pre-Australia servers. I queued on SEA or USW and played on around 200 - 250 ping. Was not enjoyable.

i played SC brood war and sc2 diamond in season one but stopped coz it did get boring for me too so i moved to dota2 early beta. League is just not worth it imo the community base sucks ass and its backwards mentality. i got to lvl 30 and was like what now.. grind ip for more heroes? not worth it. lol i'll stop here coz i can go on all day

its just not as satisfying as dota. some plays just makes your day and some just have you laughing like this gem
