Sungmin's mother Kang Kyunghwa recently took the time to speak about the controversies.

I think many fans are still mad at Sungmin and I understand why.The elders often say that the young people are too weak nowadays. Sungmin, who promoted as an idol for a long time, also grew up weak without knowing the world. I believe he'll become stronger due to this incident.

Not a lot of things go as planned. Same with this incident. I think it's important to accept the reality and change yourself in situations such as these.I think he's holding on better than I thought. He's also reflecting on his actions. Recently, he's been taking classes to learn new things and he's helping his wife.

"He's also reflecting on his actions."

WTF? what is there to reflect for? She talked as if her son did a crime, like taking hard drugs or what ever. But he only did what the most ppl do. MARRY! So he reflect that he married? Idk what to say at this point.

I am glad he use his time productive. Be with his wife and taking classes. A good news. Glad to hear that he seams to take it well.

does this woman know she can vote

savage

but yeah, sounds like someone that doesn't know she can get angry at things that aren't fair. sungmin himself has never claim to feel apologetic or "reflect" about the situation because he did nothing wrong

she should learn from top's mother

I don't get why she's talking with journalists about this issue.

is she her manager?

I guess idols are aware fans have no obligation toward them so they don't expect unconditional support, they rely on themselves. Sungmin knows that.

Taking classes? Taking classes on what? "How to tell my delusional fans that I, in fact, want to get married to someone who isn't them"?

She might be trying to damage control but she is just digging things in deeper that Sungmin's marriage was a "mistake". She shouldn't have spoken up at all if she cared about her son's career. The people who hate his marriage won't stop until he's out of the group forever.

Why should she be the manager in order to speak up? she is his Mother. The woman beside his wife who is the closest to him. Many ppl forget, that when they attack Idols also their families gets involved. Or do u think that any mother or even sister or brother can simply quiet sit down and watch while her child and family member gets attacked? Even more for no reason? I can understand she had enough and wanted to do smg for him. She is the mother of an Idol.. O/c media try to talk to her..

she is the mother of a 31 years old married man. I think he can speak for himself.

If she wants to get involved in this, ok, is her choice... but doesn't look good, if you ask me.

and I doubt Sungmin feels ok with his mom getting involved in his issue. It's a bit embarrassing.

Its right what u say, and still yet she is and feel like a mother.

I also think its questionable that she did this, but i also can understand her and her feeling. Nothing else did i say.

Sungmin is too smart for being stuck in a idol group anyway. I just wish we had more news about him but he always have been quiet so I kinda excepted this. I don't know for suju comeback It really doesn't feel the same without him and I guess I will never have the chance to see him perform devil rlytearpls.png

A elf on twitter found the original article and sent it too me, Allkpop twisted the entire interview!

Kang Kyung-sook, Sungmin’s mother, opened up about fans boycotting Sungmin during a recent interview with The Korea Herald in Seoul, saying she hopes he will overcome the hardships and get back on his feet with a stronger mindset.

Sungmin’s fans declared a boycott of the Super Junior member in June, criticizing him for his disrespectful attitude toward fans and lack of communication with them. Some fans also expressed disappointment over his not being forthcoming with them about his personal life, including declining to announce his marriage plans in 2014.

“To tell the truth, I think Sungmin is learning some important life lessons from the recent controversies. Having lived the life of an idol star, Sungmin grew up without facing real life struggles. Because of that, he was far from worldly-wise,†Kang said.

“If you don’t have an umbrella to protect yourself when it’s raining, you just have to get soaked, don’t you think?†she added.

Kang said she has been trying to help Sungmin become a more independent person by making him deal with his accountant to manage his income and tax issues by himself -- something she used to take care of on his behalf.

This is what his mama really said.

So she didn't actually say anything about reflecting or understanding why fans are upset?
