Hyooga 10,307 Posted July 25, 2017 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Been looking at some social media stats of Wanna One and despite his ranking, the engagement in Minhyun content is really high, on certain times even beating Daniel and Jihoon. iirc he was Rank 9 so I wonder how his popularity surged between the PD 101 finale and now? (there are even times that the difference between engagement with his content and another member has a difference of more than 10k so...) LillithEvans 335 Posted July 25, 2017 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Wander into the Minhyun thread and bless yourself Honestly I think P101 brings out and highlights people who are naturally competitive and have personalities that are loud (not that Daniel/Jihoon are loud and competitive but I do think their visuals, personality, etc. just garner them more attention in a show based environment) Now post-show though -> 2 things 1) Minhyun has a lot of freaking content on the internet about him (he has a whole career worth of stuff that fans can use to create content/posts etc. about him and highlight the nature of his character) 2) He is good looking a-f, tall, a vocal that can actually sing, kind, has Seonho hanging on him - Korea loves them visuals Also I think in general Seonho and him had a very symbiotic relationship. Seonho's popularity surged and as did Minhyun's. (Honestly before that kiss cam edit I don't think people were freaking out as much about either one of them). I bet Minhyun would not stay no. 9 for sure. But it's true though, he is an idol with substantial amount of stuff for people to fall upon. Unlike others, he has a backstory that grip the audience and tug at your heart strings (watch his W1 birthday video with that gd nayana piano version). Add to his top tier visual, his polite and warm mannerism, Seonho (yes! that Cube chick relationship adds into his charms) and his nation's boyfriend aura, it is enough to shoot up his popularity. About popularity I don't think u can decide just based on social media sharing, cuz look at Korean articles/searching/comments, Winkniel still dominate anyone else. lol I think ppl should realize how ranking this ss is super volatile and it didn't determine "popularity". More screentime and expose last ep=>audience vote more for you. That's it. He's always been one of the higher ranked trainees despite having less screentime than others tbh and the fact that he never got any special editing which usually attracts the GP votes.. + let's not forget he's the last survivor of split votes so even if some had others as their #1 picks , he was still well liked among the majority.. After the show, seonho's obsession put him under the spotlight, so did the elimination of the rest of his members which brought up the fact that he didn't want to succeed alone.. And then other fans getting butthurt over his posters selling out first and him having the most likes retweets etc... There was a lot of posts about it which gave him publicity among non-fans and advertised his newfound popularity.. he has tons of international fans His individual k-fans are actually on a totally different level Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
