Hyooga 10,307 Posted July 25, 2017 Share Posted July 25, 2017 saw this being discussed in /r/kpop so i'm copy-pasta-ing the topic credits: /u/savingmyjams With the advent of hiphop in K-Pop (with rap being almost a staple in every song) and the rising relevance of shows like SMTM/UPRS do you reckon there would be other K-Pop acts who could benefit from doing one season of AHL? For one, I've seen a tremendous change in perspective from Rap Monster after BTS did that show. Save for the ugly kidnapping prank, BTS fully realized that wearing baggy clothes, having swag, high fiving their friends, not showering and looking cool is not hep hap. It was a painful awakening as they went on missions to realize this (going around the ghetto neighborhoods, learning the cultural/political/historical significance of how hiphop came out, being aware of what is appropriate and what isn't) which is why some people felt it was cringey and awkward to see BTS mess up a lot, but it was an necessary eye-opener for the group (to the point that I feel they have better awareness about what true hiphop is now compared to some dudes we see on SMTM) Do you think there are other K-Pop acts who need this hiphop bootcamp with Coolio and Warren G as well? I almost want to say NCT but I don't think they'd benefit from it as much since they already do hip hop pretty well. So maybe SF9. But it would be really cool if they did a girl group the second time around. I could totally see CLC or Blackpink being fun to watch.
