The company, which is based in River Falls, Wisc., envisions the rice-sized micro chip allowing employees to easily pay for items, access the building and their computers all with a scan of their hand.

"We foresee the use of RFID technology to drive everything from making purchases in our office break room market, opening doors, use of copy machines, logging into our office computers, unlocking phones, sharing business cards, storing medical/health information, and used as payment at other RFID terminals," CEO Todd Westby said in a company statement. "Eventually, this technology will become standardized allowing you to use this as your passport, public transit, all purchasing opportunities, etc."

And while microchipping employees may sound like something out of a horror film, the company is partnering with Swedish company BioHax International, which already has many "chipped" employees.

Employees are not required to get the microchips, and Westby told the station there is no GPS tracking.

It is soooo inconvenient to scan my card, so let me get a chip implant so you can scan my hand instead. hoplz.png

Does that mean in the future, if a mugger wants to steal my wallet they have to chop off my whole damn hand?

"Three Square Market, a company that provides technology for break-room or micro markets, has over 50 employees who plan to have the devices implanted."

Seems far less out of the blue knowing that it's a break room tech company. That's a really poorly (clickbait-ily) written summary. Still though, wat?

um it shouldn't be. if you ever lost your pet the microship will have your info to contact you.

i mean i understand why, but personally i wouldn't do that. maybe a special collar with a tracking device but not a microchip

"At first I was skeptical when my employer proposed it, but now I am happy that I got a microchip installed. I now realize how wonderful my job is and I have complete confidence that my employer is looking out for my best interests. I used to sometimes doubt my employer due to errors in my thinking. But now everything is so clear and understandable. It is wonderful to come to work everyday knowing that I have the greatest job in the world and that I work for the most wonderful bosses possible. I am extremely happy with my microchip." - the future

Microchip failure happens all the time, example if the microchip's technology becomes obsolete.

(many technology becomes obsolete each year. technology are fast paced)

Then get surgery every year to replace new microchip? The article fail to talk about the most important factor =.= Only stupid employees with no technology knowledge (or health knowledge) will get this.

I know they say it's a choice, but I can't help but wonder if there will come a time when no one can refuse to have one. Meaning, companies will get rid of other avenues people had to access that information, so then people will have to get one. Also that this will evidently spread to other states. Sounds scary either way to me ohdearplz.png
