Year-end physical sales of albums will be interesting: the year of boybands

We're gonna get major physical sales this year, the K-Pop industry will be happy

  • EXO - million sellers
  • BTS - million sellers
  • Wanna One - high potential million sellers
  • Seventeen
  • Got7

Dark horses

  • Up10tion
  • Nuest (I really won't be surprised if their sales will go WAY above everyone's expectations simply because their music had always been pretty public-friendly but they lacked the popularity/platform before. I don't think they will be the typical boyband who will have heaps of preorders then slow down a bit as comeback passes by. I personally think their trajectory will be decently popular preorders but the sales will surge in once the music is out because I'm sure it will be good)
  • Astro (it's a shame foreign fans can't grasp how fast the growth of these boys in Korea is right now)
  • The Boyz (they have visuals Korea loves, but they're also super talented, their vocalists are top-tier, Sunwoo as a rapper already has his own style at such a young age, all they need is good music and I'd predict if they do, they'd probably be the ultimate competition of Wanna One. I've realized groups who are developed by old staff from the Big 3 like GFriend and BTS will usually know what's marketable and what isn't. Considering the staff working with The Boyz was in SM during the times when the company was rising, that person knows what they're doing...)

MOST LIKELY WILL SNATCH GENERAL PUBLIC ATTENTION BEFORE YEAR ENDS:

The upcoming JYP and YG boybands that will debut from their survival shows..

Final 99 Match boyband - will definitely get an all-kill on the digital charts because of public relevance

Wait YG is having another BG? :omgwtf:

The hell, they have like 50 decent BGs...

The BG survivial program isn't coming yet! YG just talked about the new GG surivival program to replace BlackPink.

aren't boy bands always the front runners of selling the most physical albums every year?!?! lol

and idk why jyp think its right to debut another boy band when they can't establish a decent enough concept for got7...

yeah but i feel we'll see ridiculous numbers this year where 1 million will no longer be that big of a deal

But Got7 has an established concept... Trying different concepts. And I'm sure Jyp knows what's good for an ent. company better than a k-pop fan :S

Monsta X has pretty solid sales. Their international fan base is actually decent

Yeah, idk why people keep forgetting about them. They might be still nugu in Korea, but their i-fanbase is pretty solid. I can see them easily selling 200k the next comeback.

Up10tion, Nu'est and Astro are doing well but to the point of becoming physical monsters? I'm not sure tbh.

I agree in The Boyz tho. They have huge potential to be the next big thing. Their profile videos alone were awesome and attracted lots of people already.

I honestly low-key think their teasers were more exciting than Wanna One's

Yall really think selling a milion albums is that easy. -_-

LMAO watch it happen

:/ even companies as big as SM dont even produce one million copies of one album. Thats why even if you have fans to buy the album, there is never enough stock.. And every million seller is backed by a repackage.

So idk... But yeah let's see.

That's why I said this year will be different, hence interesting.

Fandoms love breaking records of each other and the addition of fandoms like Wanna One's and all the upcoming survival show boygroups will churn out groups with huge, devoted fandoms wanting their oppars to be on top.

Competition can actually be good for business.
