Yeah, that F5 really isn't what I would consider supported; her larynx is pretty high and the support just isn't that engaged.

oh okay, thanks - good to know! i guess my suspicions were right then LOL

so i guess this brings her supported mix range down to Eb5/E5, with some rare instances of supporting F5.

See I am not even sure if I liked her Eb5s in that video. I honestly don't think she is as good as you think she is. Not saying she is bad because she seems to have C#5s, but just not as skilled as you would like her to be.

Do you have her singing anything else? Because you seem to only post her singing that exact same song, and I just need to hear variety from her to be sure.

really? it's not just because i like her, but i genuinely thought her Eb5s were nice LOL but i mean you're more experienced than i am, so if you don't think she supported Eb5, then I'll believe you and I'll change my thinking.

ummmmm lemme see what else

the first thing that comes to mind is let it go from frozen. the Eb5 is @3:20

but now that you mention it, it does sound a bit throaty.

In the chorus there are phrased Eb5s as well on the I(Eb5) don't care what they're (Eb5) and those already aren't very supported..and yeah the big Eb5 at the end was tight.

interesting.

okay so im bumping her down to C#5/D5 LOL

"Their singing is very stable." What does that even mean? "It's all about emotion, it's not about high notes." But literally y'all only care about them when they scream high notes and use emotion as an excuse only when you can't find a reasonable explanation for your subjective feelings towards their singing. "They have very good range." What does that mean? They have a wide range of potential, not skill. People also think anybody and everybody has an incredible range when they're all hitting the same exact notes.

I can hear it even just in that fancam you replied to. She's just like ever so slightly off (half a semitone or less) on about 75% of the notes, although most of the time she manages to slide back onto the note and it's mostly at the start of each new note.

Yeah I noticed the pitch issue too. She's definitely not in her best condition - I think she's really overworked her voice practicing for the concert. It kind of reminds me of how in 2015, she was really pitchy and chesty during her initial concerts ("Taeyeon's special day") but then managed to get everything down pat by 2016 ("Butterfly kiss" series of concerts). Hopefully she can rest and recuperate so that she can slay her persona concerts in her other Asian tour dates! I wish I could go to the HK one!!

lmao the next adlib was Jessica's part and she didn't bother to adlib it either. Yeah I guess at the minimum it's SeoTae.

really? i always thought those series of ad libs were 100% taeyeon's.

taeyeon and jessica sometimes sound similar, but it sounded more like taeyeon

in other news, taeyeon is still "fine" rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png

Hey guys, this G4 isn't so bad, right? Since I started doing the exercises from the How To Support video, I'm able to sing higher than I could before. I was singing while watching the Playing With Fire cover from Produce 101 and I even mixed A4/Bb4 lol But that's too high, so I'm not expecting anything, even G4 is high, but you know...if I'm a tenor G4 shouldn't be that big of a problem. Thank you ;)

YES DANIEL FUCK SHIT UP :') <3

meanwhile me...

Just out of interest and for fun, how high can everyone here mix and what's your voice type?

I'm kind of confused what's considered "mixing" or "head voice" for me as a baritone, because I can sing up to C#5 for example with reasonable tone (like, although it's not supported, it's not just a squeak), but my mix - if you can even call it that - would be super head-dominant. But I'm not sure if it's head voice either, because I remember reading somewhere here that baritones don't really have a true head voice (?) and it's not falsetto either o_o

Okay so ha, I just found out that Jaehyun is a baritone so my bad. I retract my statement. I wasn't paying attention, and I was judging them like they all had the same voice. But, anyway, what led me to believe that Jaehyun was better than the other two was because they all sing in a "lower" range. And because Jaehyun is a baritone he naturally has more a presence there something that the other two lacked. However, now that I know he is a baritone that makes sense and I can't really compare them now until I have more material. At least not to Taeil, but he's still more skilled than DoYoung. Doyoung has some issues.

I'm surprised that Taeil isn't as good as I thought he was. I thought his A4s sounded good, but I guess not lol

Also, I'm also surprised SM let Doyoung be a main vocal, because he's just not on par with their usual standard... and Taeil, Doyoung, and Jaehyun as a whole really pales in comparison to, say, EXO's vocal line, Chen, DO, and Baekhyun. Or Super Junior's KRY. Hopefully they'll improve though! I have faith in Taeil to become competent T_T Doyoung will likely stay average as I don't think he'll drastically change his singing style any time in the near future. I absolutely love that Jaehyun's a baritone and that SM made him a main vocal, but they really play around with him in terms of his role in NCT, since he's also a visual and also the dancer now... and he also does MCing and stuff. Hopefully they'll give him more opportunities to show his voice and let him grow as a singer.

Just curious, but why are you making that face in the thumbnail?

not sure tbh... i dont know what 2015 anthony was thinking LOL

(most of the pics i used were from over 2 years ago hehe... i was browsing and reminiscing through my old photos and moments from my phone and i was feeling really nostalgic, so i spontaneously recorded tinkerbell and decided to use a few old photos for a video lol)

Tbh I don't really like the sound of an unconnected head voice that much... but at least it seems like Tiff's head voice is improving. Some of the head voice notes I find really unnecessary musically. I feel like SM underestimates sunny or purposely gives her easier lines cause her voice is more "cute" and doesn't sound as "loud or weighty"as Tiffany despite having similar skill levels, and obviously Tae and Seo have much better technique.

I think SM just really likes Tiffany's vocal colour.

But even though her technique is average I have to agree, her tone is beautiful lol
