Why wouldn't they? Their larynx still maintains stable. However they are off key so regardless it'd still sound bad...

oh awk no F#5 </3

OMG LOLOL "Hello~" LOLOL

u guise.

When'd she use head voice?

BAM.

On the whole moving people thing, there are these guys in my college who are black and add runs to EVERYTHING they sing, which is somewhat musicianship, except when they are pitchy... I don't have the sensibility to add runs on right parts often, but I can... problem is... They define emotion as adding runs and making a song smooth and all sexy/R&B like, I define emotions as the dynamics put into a song.... I find it a bit annoying how they say I ain't adding emotion, when really it's subjective.

Too much Runs and riffs is just sloppy.

How you interpet and phrase a song is how you add emotion. Barbra Streisand doesn't really doo all the melismatic phrasing however the bitch can still get people teary-eyed.

Guys, how good is Annie Lennox? And do you know Bono Vox (U2)? I'm extremely biased with U2, I can't judge him e.e

Annie Lennox is great. A true Coloratura Contralto. A very rare voice.

Baritenor is something like Hwanhee.

This is a Full Lyric Tenor

Compare the sound of the voice I just posted to Yesung.

Yesung possess a youthful quality to his voice. It's just only slightly darker to Kyuhyun and Ryeowook. Which is why people are so quick to say he is a baritone.

Vocal wise he did well. Transition between registers is very good. Just his singing style is all over the place for me, different stroke for different folks. ^___^

Actually in jazz/blues and traditional pop, notably around and pre-Bing Crosby era, you will find a lot of singers using non-legato vocal phrasing, in which they create pauses along the phrase and break the notes on purpose as type of expression, until Frank Sinatra came along and introduced a smoothier, legato-singing style. Also seen in some cultural and regional music genres. These vocal pick-ups require good command of breathing support so that the breaks work as a musical component instead of annoying distraction. My point is that even though legato singing is used in most genres right now, it's unfair for musicians of other genres to judge their vocal ability solely on legato.

HOWEVER, Bom sucks hardcore no doubt about that. I don't think non-legato singing is intentional on her part either, mostly a technique deficiency. She makes a break for every syllable and just spits out the lyrics completely absent of any nuance or finesse.

Bom and Dara equally suck. Dara is a normal person having fun with karaoke while Bom is a horrible singer. No one is better than the other.

Agreed.

I admit I like some of their songs but what baffles me is how their fans and the general Korean public always put them on a pedestal as the most ~talented~ and ~unique~ girlgroup. YG media play at its best. Nowadays everything YG-related is ingrained in the public mind as ~talent~. :omg:

My experience with vocal teachers is a lot of them don't know what the fuck they are talking about. Your friend really needs a new teacher tbh. Opera singers utilize staccato more than any singers of other genres and they still have the best vocal longevity thank you very much flop teacher.

I am having a hard time understanding how staccatos would be bad for the voice....

That teacher needs to go.

Went to a vocal coach today.

I was so embarrassed. I'm recovering from a cold. So like we where testing out my range...and shit was going haywire.

He was supersweet and very professional.

And he studied under this legendary singer

He is a better musician. Listen to some performances of Babo, lost or snow flower. They are never the same. He has a bigger sound then Those guys up to A4. He is great technically.

Above A4 he is not that fantastic but its fine because his voice naturally is not comfortable up there.

Kyuhyun,Kim Bum Soo, have their technical issues themselves. Like Bum Soo has some nasality at the top and on occasion strains. And As a musician Kyuhyun is very...dull lol. Good Skill...But I don't think his brain understands the melody of the song on the same level as Hyoshin.

When you compare 3 good vocalist though finding out which one is "Better" becomes that much harder.

^He made me feel comfortable. Which is rare.

So I'll Be going back there. And from the previews of his singing face to face he knows how to resonant.

Yeah I do. Mostly scales and breathing exercises.

Sure.

I have no desire to be friends with you.

Everything you said about Christina is dealing with technique, i.e. how she goes about singing and reaching certain notes. This has nothing to do with her abilities and talent. I have said, technique =/=  talent, and you've yet to prove me otherwise. As it stands, she is still a power house singer and is still regarded as one of he best vocalists of modern times. (I use vocalist here in the original form — not the faux form people in this thread use.)

It has been this way since the dawn of time and this is how it will remain: 'Vocalist' - technique. Singer - talent/ability. Technique =/= talent, and you are free to try and prove me otherwise. (I am curious where you got your definitions for the terms vocalist and singer featured on page one. According to sources, one who sings is called a singer or a vocalists. This thread is the only place I've seen that does not regard them as the same thing. Could it be because you are not professionals but students who go to school? Kind of cute.)

Christina does have talent, she just doesn't have technique. These are two different things, and if you ever meet a professional in your life, they will tell you the same. As for me being on a high horse, well, I was born a queen and I will die a queen, wrapped in royal blue.

So you aren't a student of music yourself?

So then if you aren't a Student and CLEARLY you are not a professional. I will just take everything you say with a Grain of salt.

It's kind of cute how you know nothing of singing but are trying to argue with people who can sing and who have studied the art of singing/music.
