That part makes sense, though maybe more distinctions would help, though it doesn’t seem too different than Average, A to AA, Above Average, etc. I’ve seen lists using both, though peoples definition of what constitutes “average” seems to vary lol.

More distinctions than the ranking chart ? What would you suggest?

Oh I meant the letter grades, like B- or C+. The ranking system used here a lot has plenty of distinctions, it’s just sometimes the difference between them can be confusing. I saw a YouTube  video the letter grade system though it’s taken down now. It ranked it as following

The system a lot here uses has different distinctions like the Average, A to AA, but as someone who isn’t familiar with it back from back in the day, it doesn’t seem any different than the letter grades system, so it seems like personal preference. The confusing part is that average seems to mean a lot of things especially with categories like Above Average, AA to Good, competent, etc. like competent and good feel like they mean the same thing, but it’s easy to see an A is better than a B, for example. For instance, I was always confused with ranking vocalists in the categories like Average to Above Average, because wouldn’t they already be above average then? What’s the thing keeping them from being “above average” but not “average?”

At the end of the day vocal rankings tend to have a lot of debate though, especially when you get into the nitty gritty.

Hi, since you have reviewed that short clip of NCT's Yuta singing L'arc en Ciel's ''Honey'', I wanted to ask - is he good compared to Japan's best male vocalists ?

I don't know who the best Japanese male singer  but Yuta is still a technically underdeveloped singer and I think there are a lot of people better than him.

And what do you think of this Ranking ?

I find it easier to understand personally, especially in higher grades where minor things seem to differentiate them, like with the B tier in general. Not sure how accurate some placements are but it gives a nice overall picture for me. Generally I’d consider people in C tier to be average, and it makes sense most vocalists would be average and the exceptional fewer. Of course it means less if we don’t know what actually differentiates them, but that’s true for any ranking.

Well you can follow that sys as long as it not that messy(I personally would keep using the blog tiers )from what I'm seeing some ranks are outdated (Mamamoo, sojeong, dawon ....) some are very overrated misconceptions like park Kiyoung rank ,can I ask from where did you get this list ? And where are the rest of the pioneers?

That particular ranking I found on a Reddit post that posted that linked the video source, but the actually video source account has been deleted lol

Spoiler

The first one I posted was from a blog:  http://profilekpop.blogspot.com/2015/12/ranking-kpop-vocal.html?m=1

But I didn’t post it saying it was the most accurate, I just wondered what an updated one of that with the active singers would look like (some of the ones there we haven’t heard from in years it feels like). It’s also was a ranking that had male vocalists which is a bit harder to find. I’m assuming it’s hard to directly categorize male and female vocalists though because how different their voices are?

I think it’s fine to use whatever you’re used to, and if the blog system works then no need to change. I guess I was just confused what’s really different between the 2 systems other than the labels of the category (like a C tier would probably be an Average equivalent wouldn’t it?).

This might be Ningning best attempt at runs and being full in her midrange/chest voice.

She support F#3s and 0.29 Eb3 sounds good too. Ningning was very comfortable with her low range, I think she has potential and she probably won't stop at F#3.

Not really it hit with a lowered larynx

I never thought it was really support, I'm just saying it sounds good compared to the other Sopranos, she is comfortable in her low rang 😅

Seokhwa from WEi seems to be average. Seems to be able to handle F#4 ish

2:24  C#4 - E4 - F#4 - F4. A couple of F4 throughout the chorus. 3:07 F#4 followed by pushy G#4. 3:46 F4s

damn 4th gen bg is packed with average guys lol. There are like 20 people in there now 👁️👁️

@ZRH23Hello May I ask you that if you Yuju consistently sings like what she did in the wedding and the song that she covered the latest, will she considered back to her AA-P or High AA with better low and headvoice?

If she  continues to sing like that? She'll stay where she is lmao. Those moments are her only saving graces tbh, without them she'll be lower. Even in those songs, she's got the same issues as usual and I haven't heard any extra effort beyond B4/C5.

Do you think it would be safe to move her supported range to just C5? Like you mentioned her repertoire doesn't demand it but those issues are just too much.

How is her mix compared to lower AA's like Kei and Sejeong? I feel like lately I've heard better moments from them

Only sejeong is AA ,kei is A to AA and yeah both have cleaner moments lately, sejeong is definitely a stronger belter than current yuju
