some quotes from another thread ("vocally better") :

Actually I think Jessica is technically a better singer than Taeyeon based on (technique). Voting for Taeyeon though because I still think her technique is good and her tone is beautiful.

Bom's voice is not ruined and she is improving now (for this comeback) she is been taking singing lessons again. I like Bom's tone more than CL.

Taeyeon has a powerful voice and her tone is better than Jessica, but my Sica can even hit higher notes than Taeyeon.

:ahmagah:

Omg it doesn't even take vocal pedagogy lessons to hear Bom's damaged voice . It definitely is ruined.

And how the FAQ is Jessica better than Taeyeon.

....It was there....though my E4's there were kinda yiffy since I wasn't 100% warmed up. I really gotta warm up like an hour before I sing, not like 20 min ..LOL I finish my warm up 20 min before singing... oh well~~ but uh yeah it was there...

I can't sing right after I warm up either ~

Out honey.

Ah thanks ELLY!

I will when I'm back home tonight! ^ ^

It depends for how long you warm up, you should warm up and sing like if you warm up for 15 min, but I warm up for like half hour to exercise the muscles so yknow. lol

If you don't practice how are you going to get any better ? Practice makes perfect

Ohh, I get it. So how long have you been warming up your voice daily? I don't exactly warm up every day, I do some exercises when I think I need to get better in some area of my voice.

Question: Sooyoung's Password performance, I thought she did ok some intonation issues and she was shaky so I ask, what makes that performance different than how Sunny performances live on a normal occasion? Sunny has intonation issues, she has breath support problem too, and i don't think she has ever sung open throat (unless her musical counts).

1.Seeya

2.CSJH

3.Davichi

4.BEG

5.SNSD

6.WG

7.f(x)

8.Sistar

9.A Pink (Eunji)

10.Spica(?)

I'm not sure about the 10. F(x) and sistar could change too '-'

Is fx really that good, outside of Luna?

Oh, now that people were talking about vocal warm up do you guys think that sometimes k-pop idols have bad performances because they might not get to do warm ups?

Probably the case with some. Warming up is important, it is a muscle after all. Of course, regularly not warming up and going on to sing can hurt your voice and make it worse.

No, below wg, all the groups have one decente vocalist only, the rest is bad.

Ohh, daily? I didn't know you should warm up daily. Even when you're not going to sing?

Yes u shud keep your voice in shape daily, though you shouldn't overwork it either. I do also think that some idols don't warm up properly or exercise daily..they have to do their hair and stuff, I wonder when they get to warm up..

Sunny's not always flat like Sooyoung, Sooyoung is like almost always under pitch, and Sooyoung's high notes are somewhat tense too, they're completely relaxed... Sunny is also more stable, though not completely

You can just compare vocal lines or the best vocalist.. So it'd be like CSJH, SeeYa, Davichi, BEG, SNSD and then... Hyorin/Luna > Sunye but Yeeun > Soyu > Krystal, so in average, 2Ye fares better than Luna+Krystal or Hyoyu~ Only reason APink is so high is because of Eunji.

Ahh well I would compare the group as a whole.

Then again, it's honestly hard to judge some since they don't sing much.

For Rainbow, then it'd be Hyun Young, Jisook, Jaekyung, and SeungA, rather than the entire group.

Makes sense for this thread.

What I mean is of course the group as a whole, but comparing the group as a whole it goes Hyorin/Eunji/Luna > Sunye > YeEun > Soyu > Krystal > Amber > Hyelim/Sohee > Dasom/Sulli > Victoria > Bora (rapper eh.) I'm not familiar with APink members, so this is all I can say... I mean overall Sistar could be above f(x)...

Ah so that's what you meant.

Though I would put Lim around Amber's level or above, but eh, honestly haven't seen enough of either to really judge.

Oh, I get ^^ I thought about that when I saw Chen from EXO M singing the "What is Love" high note in two different days. One of the days he hit the note really well in terms of pitch (probably pushed up his larynx, though). The other day he switched a head voice or something. I don't remember... So I was like "maybe with some warm up he could do better than this"

I mean it pains me to say that because..OH I FORGOT YOOBIN. lol Yoobin is not too bad of a vocalist ..she and Amber are kinda even... I mean Hyelim is alright as a dancer, but as a vocalist and rapper, she's very weak. Actually that's easier. Hyoin, Eunji, Luna = capable. Sunye = above average, sorta capable but not quite, YeEun = a good average.. but still average, and below her, everybody is weak to bad... like Soyu, HyeLim, Sohee, Amber, Krystal, they're all weak vocalists, then Victoria, Sulli and Dasom are bad. lol Idk, I'm not completely familiar with them all, but all of those are kinda weak so it's hard to judge overall... ugh. I hate it cuz I'd be very very sure that WG >> the others if it weren't for Sunmi leaving the group..she's so much better than Soyu, Dasom, Krystal and Hyelim..

Warming up and consistency. Since it's a high note, sometimes it's to do with being warmed up, sometimes it's to do with your range. It's one of those notes in his range where..yknow maybe he can hit it, maybe he can't. The fact he switched into head voice means it's probably not a note within his tessitura. (unless it was like 10 am LOL)

Soon we will see if SunMi's spent her time away from fame well (discounting that she had to leave school and everything).  I guess she'd be the most reliable indicator of how JYP's vocal training is shaping up (considering all the recent girls weren't home-grown... oh, I guess there was JJProject....)
