Long time no postt but just wanted to drop by and post that Lina was on King of Masked Singer!
I didn't see anyone else post about it

It's only a 2 minute performance, but it's nice to see her belting in the 5th octave again even though they don't sound as good as they used to

I saw, it's part of her analysis now as well. The only thing that really bothered me was her vibrato and the low larynx down to D3, but everything else was good.

Are you like 14 and a baritone?

I thought Haebin supported too

She MAY be able to support. This video only shows her being airy and shallow, but I've heard her being slightly more connected than anybody else in Gugudan aside from Sejeong.

It would be so good for Ahmin, K and Haruko if all groups sang in this show lol

the mic quality is so good and the instrumental isn't loud making their voices sound so clear

by the way does the girl at 1:53 supports? She sounds relaxed and her transition sounded fine, right?

Oh, and Minah's sister sounds so much like Minah that when they sang together it sounded like one person singing lol

Actually I kind of hate the fact they're singing into those tiny mics lol And the fact they're sitting down because I don't know, the setting is a bit awkward but it's very live. Who supports there? Is the redhead supposed to be the main vocalist? 1:53 girl? She pushes too much air through when she sings, especially on the transitions. She sounds the most connected though, not sure about supported. Minah's sister doesn't really sound like Minah too much, she is so much tighter, so much more nasal and so much airier overall.

I'm arguing with someone who claims to be a choir director, that proper breathing has nothing to do with singing well, Beyoncé is a trash vocalist, and Ariana a good example to emulate in her upper range.

if that person says that Beyoncé is trash and yet is praising Ariana then..

"Ignore anything that anyone tells you about your diaphragm, or breathing. It doesn't matter. Babies know how to breathe, singing isn't about your breath, it's about your vocal chords. I don't know what your musical background is, but if you like classical music, look up "All of Bach", and listen to a cantata or a few - the singing in there is truly fantastic.

Otherwise: try not to sing that low, breathy female singing (I hate to say it, but pretty well everything Beyonce does is vocally unhealthy). Sing a variety of different styles, and try to not let your voice be "breathier" than it has to be. It's really hard to explain otherwise via text... A pop example of someone with good vocal function is Ariana Grande - her vocal chords have to occlude fully in order to produce those super high notes, and she seems to be managing the lower stuff well."

The guy in question.

I just had to call out the slander against Queen B.

It's really upsetting that this person is a choir director, which means that a lot of voices are being guided by this individual. Yes the development of coordination is very important, but not breathing while singing is like having no gas for a sports car like...

"Pretty well everything Beyonce does in unhealthy" despite supporting everything from C3 to D6 0u0plz.png  meanwhile current Ariana is struggling to connect her phrases together and remove the tension in the majority of her range, let alone resonate dave.png

Tell them to explain exactly what Beyoncé does that's u healthy and how Ariana's shouty high larynx technique is a proper use of her vocal cords. He's got a point about breath, you don't need more breath, you need just enough air against the right stretch of the vocal cords. But Ariana pushes with a high larynx so their theory isn't matching what they hear. Choir directors aren't exactly the best example of vocal knowledge since choir singing and solo singing are very different. One choir director told a girl that I know that she's a tenor, but she's actually a really throaty and pushy soprano. So you know. Ask him these things.. or link me, I'll talk to him if I must.

thanks! would you say she's average-ish?

I'd rather not rate her until she's analyzed if you know what I mean. Edited by AhMin

I did. He said she's like Adele, who injured her voice. I told him that Adele had poor breath support (damn if I don't love 21 with all my heart but homegirl sounds like she just hopped off the treadmill while standing there whispering to the mic), couldn't relax her larynx to save her life, and was trying things she did not have the ability to carry out, which showed after a few of years in her career, while Beyoncé has been singing continuously for two decades and no damage to her voice has happened yet.

Reddit is a cesspool.

How can a girl be a tenor though ?

They said "ex professional choir director". Pretty sure they got fired.

They went on to recommend the infamous Reid method and said it would only take a couple of lessons to teach a complete novice how to sing properly in-pitch so like...

Really? Lol I thought the sound came out good D: Yeah, the redhead is their main vocal, it's kinda odd because she sounds so different when they performed on Immortal Song lol When someone's connected does that mean they are close to supporting? I mean, weak vocalists don't connect well, right? Oh, I thought their tone sounded alike, kinda like Krystal and Jessica
