Did Taeyeon's voice or vocal tone change from debut?

In Baby Baby, I noticed that her voice is a lot heavier, whereas now it's a lot lighter. What do you think happened? Was it intentional?

vs

She did, from her analysis

During her debut years, Taeyeon used much more chest resonance in her singing, causing her to have a much richer and fuller tone production. However it seems after 2009 she switched to a lighter and brighter tone quality with some slight airiness as well...

Her switch to a lighter tone production definitely is not negative nor positive as it didn’t positively or negatively affect her voice. Also it seems as of 2015 she has found more of middle ground between the two.

there's also stuff like Estill Voice Training, idk wtf they do though

CVT seems to have worked with a lot of book smart scientists and technology to do tests with, but they cannot even tell that the singers they use are not good in the first place. They say male opera singers use overdrive and then they show some random and very flawed classical singer o_o

In most cases today, Bel Canto is just a fancy label. you have to be able to distinguish how the old Italian opera singers sang and how they did it in order to understand true Bel Canto.

personally I like functional singing technique, which started with Bel Canto. The name is quite plain and literal LOL, but that's the point. It is about understanding physiology and the way the voice functions. And just as importantly as that, it is about training the ear to recognize the physiological conditions that correspond to the sounds that you hear in singing. It is not about promoting just one larynx position as being the only way that good singers use; you are free to sing neutral, low, in between or a mix of them all (like some of the recent examples of non-classical singers I gave) if you'd like but just do it as functionally correct as possible.

That sounds really practical dave.png

Would you say this girl's larynx is lowered? She sounds really different here compared to how she sings now

@2:23

New material for WJSN Dayoung, if it's not useful it's a least enjoyable haha. Also, I was wondering if she was using head voice in her Frank Ocean cover? I'm thinking falsetto but just to make sure. Can she support ?

New material? Are you sure you're not confusing her with Dawon? Because Dawon is the one we actually need material for because she will be analyzed. Dayoung, we never planned to analyze her tbh. She has a pretty voice, airy. She has decent pitch, lots of air, falsetto, lack of support. That's what I hear.

Since WJSN has soo many members (12 vocals and only one rapper lol), which ones/how many are you going to analyse besides Dawon? Yeonjung probably and Soobin? Or is it Seola? It must be hard for you guys with all these 10+ member groups coming out laugh.png

So far Dawon and Yeonjung seem like enough

Yeah, I guess they're enough for now, the others don't have much material anyways.

I've wondered why you analyzed two from Kara if they're both weak? I'm not judging or anything, I'm just curious about how the analyses get chosen!

That was because I had chosen them a long time ago anyway so I just went through with it since their material often overlapped. It wasn't any specific reason, back then I just thought I had to.

Hi I want to ask, does any of snsd not vocal line have any support? or 0 support? and who is the best in black pink if you happen to know

I'm a total newbie here but as far as I know, Yuri has shallow support. Sooyoung too. But it's kinda pointless cause all are not skilled in the end.

Blackpink? None are strong but my bet is Rose...maybe Jennie but she hasn't sung very much

Why do they make girls and guys compete with the same song at the same pitch? Even tenors and sopranos usually have quite different strong areas of their voice. This song was way more challenging for the guy than Rose, no high or low notes for her voice at all.

Have there been that many weak vocalists competing on Masked Singer? I thought the show was supposed to be about showcasing.

Anyone can go on Masked Singer, actors, rappers, newscasters, whoever. The gimmick is guessing who the singer is, not really if they sing super well.
