me too! imagine if tae could be resonant at that part while walking so casually to the front and center  :ilove: plus i also love fany's part in the 2nd chorus even though she sings it badly haha. and thanks for the links!

SHE DOES!! Watch 2:37 of the second video, starts as a resonant C#5 but then she slides to D5/Eb5 and goes tense xD

0:31 decent that Eb5/D5?

Maybe slightly tense, it's hard to tell

can anyone tell me how good Lea Salonga is? like where does she stand among vocalists

She's good to me, apparently she's great. I haven't got much material, but if we talk bout the Chart, she's definitely a Tier 1 vocalist.

Do falsetto and head voice have the same range?

Difference is, because falsetto is so weak and disconnected, using head voice will probably allow you to go higher than falsetto. (Unless u tense up and scream like Ariana and Christina)

oh thank u I really love her and her music...yes her higher notes can be worrying, but now she is more toned down a bit..I think the nasal a with most other japanese female singers is aquired in term of how the japanese language is and how they pronounce if u know what I mean, but yes it can just be nasal sometimes

well not necessarily, many people in general can be nasal, languages aren't more nasal than others (unless it's thai LOL) it's just yknow how they sing.. but yeah she's got a wide range anyway.

he is a vocal coach, he belted D5!!

woo the Bb4 was not good already. Nasally placed...

so being a vocal coach doesn't mean your singing is good. lol

not at all. Some yes, but not all... at my school one used to be a coach for some idol singers, but he strained anywhere above G4 and wasn't really ever resonant

so you need a trained ears to be a vocal coach so you can tell all a singer's flaws...?

you need to know how to do it right yourself so you can teach others how to do it right. Some ppl learned how to strain "right" and teach others the straining method I guess lol

just wanted to know how these notes were at:

@7:33 and @6:58

Both are falsetto, they don't have solid clear note. One is "airy", other is round "warm". Dictation and mouth opening dictate the outcome.

Do falsetto and head voice have the same range?

Falsetto goes higher notes than head voice. But Falsetto can't "resonate", in other word cannot go as loud as head voice.  You can use Falsetto and head voice for a certain note range.

to me it sounds like you forgot what we meant by falsetto and head voice. Remember Jessica's B4? One was mixed, the other one was falsetto, the other one would have been head voice instead of falsetto if she had better cord closure

How do you even strain "right"??? LOL That's an oxymoron.

I mean some ppl strain and the notes wont come out, some other learn to strain to the point where the notes do come out. LOL

Jessica falsetto is not loud, but Taeyeon at 7: 33 she made the effort to go loud. You have seem Taeyeon what will Taeyeon do when she go head voice. She will put back her mic, cos it is loud and may cause clipping to the mic. From her back you can't see, but you look how close she was handling the lyrics. In normal case, the mic will be in between her and the paper. The thing is falsetto has a very distinct character other than "airy", you hear a "warm" or "body" tone if you don't leak the "air" out. Some will say your vocal is beening block in front. To be frank, falsetto with a "airy" character is not usually used in singing, that tone is really sound bad in studio recording.

How are Baek Ji Young and Younha?

Here's Hyorin's version.

Out of these three, who is the best vocalist?

Just got curious after watching everyone's vocal videos... Finally found out that the Eb5's were in this song

You did not mention what head voice is at all in this statement, nor did you manage to refute the fact Taeyeon used head voice instead of falsetto. Taeyeon's G#5 is a head voice note, whereas the E5 was falsetto. Falsetto is a weaker, breathier, disconnected form of head voice.

They're all Tier 2 vocalists, I believe. Baek Ji young has a fast uncontrolled vibrato... sometimes, like it's too much.

@2:35 I think Younha was resonant.. 3:04 was nice ...also 3:43 tbh I'm not sure who's better? I think it's like Hyorin > Baek Jiyoung/Younha or Baek Ji Young > Younha or Younha > Baek Ji Young? LOL Seem like Top tier 2 vocalists, Luna, Taeyeon, EunJi, Dana and Hyorin tend to even each other out, and I think Younha and Baek Ji young end up doing the same

Very disappointing, and here we thought D5s were getting easier for her...

I'm sure Taengoo could get some nice D5's with the right breathing support - to be fair, she was in the midst of doing Soshi's hardest choreographies ^^

Her strained note is reminiscent of the very same high note she hit 5ish years ago in this goodbye performance...

Ironically I think Jessica's best F#5 was here.

Everyone can do some nice D5s with good support+placement.
