What do you guys think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1SgpvkdNLU

I feel this was just asked about not too long ago, but I didn't watch it so whatever. Surprisingly she didn't do terribly, not that i expected her to completely flop, I just wasn't expecting this. She has some support so when she sings there is a foundation for her voice to rely on, however it's not a very strong and connected support; it's shallow. She has this slight tension which I feel is a combination of throat and tongue tension neither is completely relaxed so it's constricting her projection. The highest she goes is C5 I believe and the aren't terrible there definitely is some larynx lifting and tension, but it's not 100% strain which is a good thing. She's also mixing fairly lightly on the top notes so that makes it either on her vocally. I must say her pitch is pretty good.

Can I ask who're next in line for the analysis? I love the effort that you guys done but I can't help but think that you guys kinda had a pattern. After the bomb december update, the ones who are given analysis are like average at most, then after that the ones who are next are people who're not that active in the industry. Not that it's bad, it's just an observation on mine.

There really isn't a pattern...well Matheus may have a pattern...I don't. The reason why so many average people have been analyzed lately is because we needed them. We had more people in the Average to Above Average or Above Average than in the Average area which was a problem..because the Average should have the most people.

was 3:41 flat again?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3m89jMhv4w

She's having some trouble hitting notes in the 6th octave lol

Yeah it was a little bit flat..I mean she was trying to attempt C#6/D6 or something...like that's really high lol. Many sopranos have difficulty in that area.

yeah! I was asking because it sounded better than here 3:38 (sounds really flat lol) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mbdHHv6yV8 but not like the studio version. It's a strained head voice, isn't it?

I also would like to ask about when you guys say "able to produce a connected head voice" you guys use the word connected just to emphasize the fact that it's a head voice and not a falsetto right, because a head voice can't be disconnected

No, that's not head voice..well it could be just a really weak one similar to like Tiffany, lacking in development. Honestly, you would have to ask Matheus about that because that's more of his thing than mine. I believe it's how well the vocalist switch back and forth between their head voice hence why it's connected. Take Sohyang for example; she can easily go back and forth between head voice and essentially any part of her voice where as someone like Tiffany there's like this slight hesitation almost like a "crack" more of click sound really. Sort of like when a guy switches into his falsetto. I believe that's what he's getting or what that means..but I would ask him.

You should have asked something.

My timestamps are for this video
https://youtube.com/watch?v=htK9BpzTLuI

1:31 resonant Bb4?
2:18 C5 tension? :rlytearpls:
The difference in 3:06-3:11 :rlytearpls:

That airy falsetto is so itchy :rlytearpls:

I feel like this guest ate Hyorin's alive, and she can use headvoice :rlytearpls:

Oh my Hyorin. :rlytearpls:

3:07....that was such a mess lool

So I actually watched the whole thing and in this range Hyorin did really well she was very open and had some really nice resonant moments, so really even with this new found rating she's still at like the top of the pack. 1;31 Yes, that Bb4 was resonant good job~ 2:18 was actually a B4 I believe and there wasn't tension why did you think that?

Im pretty sure Hyorin hit a resonant D5. She did really well. She is clearly getting her voice back.

Do you have a time stamp?

I wanted to know how good/bad/average Krystal's vocals are so I started looking for acoustic performances and there are literally none

https://kpopvocalanalysis.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/fxs-vocal-analysis-krystal/Here you go

The last line in her updated analysis worried me a little

"As it’s been noted, recently there has been a regression so the best route for her would be to take time out to rest, heal and learn how to use her voice again in order to keep her instrument from being permanently damaged."

Would you say that current progress she's made from her lowest shows she hasn't permanently damaged her voice / is off the track towards permanent vocal damage now?

Well, what progress? This performance was progress? I don't ever remember her messing up the Bb4-C5 range, so this really isn't progress as much as it muscle memory. Progress would be if she began to support herself above C#5 again. I don't keep up with Hyorin at all..so I don't know what she's been doing lately. And honestly I can't answer your question.

How did Seungkwan do, generally, here? (Particularly between 2:40-3:00 and 3:20ish maybe?)

Um, well..generally did fine. There was support and what not. 2:40 the run was messy, but the F#4 were supported um after that moment was really a completely he just started straining and yelling and it just wasn't cute lol.

The reason she got bad is because her cat died back in 2015, he was really sick and she didn't know what to do. She was having a mental breakdown. Her UPRS song My Love was abt her cat. She recently talked abt all this.

Okay, I'm going to be honest..I really don't believe her cat dying is the cause of her recent vocal decline. Correlation does not mean causation and that's not how voice the works. I understand if she would be under some stress because of that, but I really doubt it would cause her to absolutely not support her voice after a certain point and forget how to mix properly.

its all about thinking about the concept of being relaxed.

Does their tone sound relaxed as possible? We may not be able to support when singing but we all can breathe from the diaphragm even without training. Breathing from the diaphragm is the essence of breath support. Because we at least know how to breathe from the diaphragm without singing, we can have an idea of what support should 'feel' like. When you breathe from the diaphragm you should feel no neck/throat tensions, and utlimately your throat should feel relaxed.

@2:31 Here matheus is teaching you how to breathe from the diaphragm without singing.

For example, try singing. Does it feel as relaxed as it should. Associate that discomfort/unrelaxed with sounds like throatiness, shouting, tightness, strain, high larynx etc. Remember when you try to sing a high note and its uncomfortable and you feel your throat being restricted? That kind of strain is easy to detect like Taeyeon's F5s and such. When you sing higher from your comfortable or talking range (from an untrained person's perspective, even mine) you should feel at first slight feelings of discomfort compared to those high belts you attempt.

I want you to separate these links into: Supported, weak support, no support. This is going to be easy because this is the same song used for each female vocalist and it is in a easy range for their voice type as sopranos. If you know their ratings, ignore that. I want you to judge this purely on listening.

Now compare with a supported vocalist that we have listed here. Listen to their tone and try to imagine the feeling thats in that throat. Dont focus on their nasal tone, focus on what their throat/breathing must feel like when listening.

Other's may participate this test too
For a hint: Jessica and sara showcases on what the song should song like if supported

Please leave the test and quizzes to us. This was a cute idea, but no, I would really like you to not do this. Leave this to people with more trained ears.
