Official Vocals thread (READ OP FIRST)

Oh sorry I meant to answer that.... she debuted being above average, over the years she has shown more consistency in her placement and her tonality, her intonation still needs a bit more work in certain areas, like switching into head voice can be very yucky for her...she has shown such improvements throughout 2007 ~ 2010 and by 2011 I think she could already be regarded as a better vocalist, in 2012 I believe it's when we can confidently say she's a capable vocalist, but before that, she was just above average even in 2011, though better than before..

yeah. I noticed she had improved a lot since debut, but why 2012? Did she show much more consistency with twinkle? In 2011 was she then decent-okay because she was getting consistent with her resonant B4's and C5 as well as her resonant E5 (she did get a few resonant C#5s in her your tho). Yeah I also noticed how her C#5s in genie are being projected more at ease as she was usually tensing them back in 09.

Also how were Seohyun's C#5 and Taeyeon's D5s in the boys?

i meant C5 in head voice!!!!

LOL sorry I meant C2.

and I meant C5 in head voice, lol.

that makes much more sense. So your actual musical vocal range is C2-D5. You're definitely a baritone. I'm about F#2/G2-C#6 (I've hit a D6 for like 5 seconds tho) You must have nice vocal range especially in the high range. Tbh head, voice gets me higher than falsetto. My falsetto stops at E5 for some strange reason. Edited by Bringthesnacksout

How'd you hit C#6/D6 if you falsetto stops at E5?

You can't do a collab without meeting.

back in AKP slutty-k and Royal-T didn't need meet up at all. Because if use the airy technique in falsetto past E5 its almost all air that comes out and I can't seem to make my chords move. But if I head it, I don't worry too much about air and sound comes out.

How'd you even know you used HV? Did you record yourself? Because you really can't know with sure you used an HV without recording and playing yourself.

it wasn't airy like falsetto. I changed my placement and I could feel my placement.

He's liking a skull? and he has lipstick on? I'm disturbed. In a few levels. LOL I dont notice what you're saying and it's annoying me >_<

u said belting! lol awk that makes so much more sense lol

Ur range is only F#2/G2? That's where tenors usually find problems.. u might be a tenor.. lol Well my heady mix goes higher than my pure head voice.. lol

omg that is where I find problems too. My A2s don't need to be forced to keep tonality and volume. I could be lyric or spinto? How the hell does your heady mix go higher than pure head voice?

receipts~ PM me.

tomorrow. my parents are asleep. Is a smartphone recording app good enough for you? I don't have a mic. I'll go up my range to show you my limitations of head and falsettos. Edited by Bringthesnacksout

nigguh u r going a bit too deep into details... untrained baritones can hit F2's, untrained tenors find G#2's hard notes...even trained tenors do.. and cuz I add more air pressure to the vocal cords and thus I doin't need them to stretch up to the notes, I just force them out. Straining. LOL

it's fine actually

I'll give receipts about my low range as well. Really? Its that hard to make a sound out with that note?

I actually agree with abra. Ailee's voice is like soda to me, when it gets too much I cannot stand it LOL Like in Don't Leave perf in IS2, the belt she does at the end, I cannot stand it. Too much pressure to my ears.

lol add me to the PM too.

Don't use racial slur you daft! lolol :P

I can hit F2s as well~~ hehe :3 Though they are airy and not much audible :(((

for sure. I'll practice so I get a smooth head voice tho. You're putting doubts in me that its just a rather sustained squeak, which I disagree. But I'll get your help even though I could be wrong this whole time. Also I'm half negro (a people from the island of Negros in the Philippines, well its actually negrito (meaning little black) but my mum is tall for her race so she's negro) so I guess nigguh counts.

how did hyorin do in her recent singing of the national anthem? How was it compared to taeyeon's at the baseball game in LA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sir7OKvbn3M

she was throaty all over, at times she seemed off pitch. Her versatility was not the best here as her falsetto came out almost moot and just air.

Taeyeon did much better.

urm...has hyorin been wearing out her vocal recently? I've always thought her vocal projection isn't that good tbh

this is what I call the hyorin

hyorin: alright, throat just keep open for me for this note.

throat: Kay bby qurl.

*hyorin pulls a note almost resonant

throat: wait nope. Whoops.

*throat closes and note is throaty.

hyorin: well fvck.....

oh my what happened hyorin? She was flat very often and sometimes throaty and her falsetto was really really weak, barely coming out

BUT OMG IT'S KAI. I LOVE KAI. Well I have 3 singles he released, he's like a classical pop singer, he tries to sing in a pop way but he sounds classical either way LOL he sang You Raise Me Up <3 I like his voice

still a bit husky but in a much better key, a bit sloppy and pitchy regardless, honestly neither of them are good, this one was also shaky and pitchy, the other one was just in a bad key

to me she sounds whiny, in this performance specifically...that was a Bb5 which is wow, high. But yeah it wasn't exactly good.

Do I listen to them enough? Is 40 songs enough?

btw nobody here's bashing, please don't confuse bashing with stating facts. We are not even talking about Kara often, if you'd like to defend them, then please go and find a video and we'll listen and say what we think. We're not forced to go hunt videos of Kara, this isn't a Kara thread, so please post a video and we'll tell you if there's anything good there.

so who did better HR or TY?its TY right?

also no need to repeat my words for the evaluation.

she was throaty all over, at times she seemed off pitch. Her versatility was not the best here as her falsetto came out almost moot and just air.

Taeyeon did much better.

:hoplz:

how did lyn do in comparison to snsd vocalist in "the boys"cover, did she actually did better than soshi ,???some opinions please, THNX

I was kinda disappointed that she didn't do all the high notes or put quite some chest in her mix unlike the original. But it isnt a, exact cover and it was nice that she added her own colour and creativity. However it sounded almost exactly the same as the supearls cover, but she did give her own interpretation

She did okay in her comfort zone with some healthy moments as well. Her heady mix was nice. She did get nasal but also a tad tense in the end doing Jessica's progression.

can't really compare because she didn't do exactly all the notes as snsd, and for some of the notes she did, it was done in a headier mix than gg chestier mix. So you can't really compare the vocalists
