Official Vocals thread (READ OP FIRST)

Hello,

Sungmin is mediocre. There's a huge gap between him and Yesung. He's nasal and he strains often, he has pitching issues, he does OK in his comfort zone. His lower range is quite airy. He hasn't ever resonated. He needs to work on his breath support and placement. Oh and he's a light lyric tenor.

Is Tiffany > Sungmin?

If singing was just about hitting notes then I would declare Kyuhyun the best male singer in Kpop. Well he is the best vocalist probably,I know many people with actual knowledge about vocals think so, but for me he lacks emotion. Like. So much. He can sing ballads all amazingly all he wants I'm never touched :/ Which is why in SJ I still prefer Yesung over him. (Then again, unlike vocal techniques, delivery and reception of emotions is a question of personal preference, just like voices. But I've honestly never met a person that said Kyuhyun's singing MOVES them.)

LOL I agree on Taeyeon (but who doesn't) but then the line gets all blurry for me when it comes to Sica/Seo/Fany...and I would place Sunny lower. But then again I'm only judging based on preference xDD

I guess the others aren't even worth mentioning then? XD

You've never met that many Kyuhyun biased people then~

Elly, I've met many Kyuhyun-biased people though, ELF was like my first Kpop-Fandom. Tho I admit I didn't talk about vocals with all of them. xD Please don't feel personally offended, I love Kyuhyun nevertheless. ;) I like his voice and I know he's a great vocalist, but his delivery of emotions just doesn't do it for me. Thus I love love LOVE him in upbeat songs but when it comes to ballads...meh. And I used to be a Kyuhyun-biased person myself, at one point in time so.  :hehe: It's just that emotionally, Yesung does a lot more with my heartstrings.

Oh I'm not offended, like at all, everyone is entitled to their opinions. A lot of people like Yesung's singing, myself included. I'm just shocked that you've never met someone who found him emotional, I can count on one hand the people I know that haven't been moved by him. (People who aren't fans included)

Woohyun is decent, I think he's in the top 5. Omigod the gpa between them is big, it's like the gap between Taeyeon and Jessica, but a bit bigger.

Taemin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Changmin.

is it Changmin>Jaejoong>Yunho or Changmin>Yunho>Jaejoong?

Oh and in the analysis of Ryeowook it's said the he can be nasal but removes it when he belts, is it the same for Yesung too?

Eunhyuk's probably stalling because his performing ability is higher than the others. I'm thinking Sungmin or Donghae.

Shindong's an mc, he's really busy. I don't think he has the time. Sungmin's so stoic: I really think he's going next.

Donghae because I just think it'll happen.

They're going based on age lol Sungmin and Shindong are next in line, since Kangin has already enlisted.

And a question, is the best way to widen someones comfort range to sing out of the comfort range more?

If your talking about vocal range, idk. If your talking about genre ~ As long as your not hurting yourself, then it's fine to try. Didn't Kyuhyun do that with Masquerade. It sounded great.

I mean vocal range ^^

Nope, otherwise Taeyeon's comfort range would be quite big since she sings outside of there quite often. The best way would be to train yourself outside of your comfort zone so your notes are supported and healthy and you can hit them with ease.

So should you practice a certain note at a time like, say if your objective was to be able to hit a D5 properly, you'd practice just D5's until you were good at them. Does training yourself to hit a higher note mean you can hit all the notes under it well too? (sorry for the questions ><)

That should be the case, it's basically what Hyorin's doing right now. Before, Hyorin's E5s were dodgy, but now they are getting better and better, soon they should be in her comfort zone (if they aren't already).

If you train yourself to hit higher notes, you should be able to hit the notes under it well too assuming they're in your comfort zone.

Ah okay, thank you, I get it ;)

It's still not an exact science and there's always room for discussion here, so y'all are welcome to share and answer each other's questions and not spam as much with random questions about notes or just about things that aren't that big of a deal, like oh hey Minah resonant on F#4, that's great, big deal. Like it's not that big of a deal, asking about one performance is cool and all but yknow maybe we don't have time to it's okay for everybody to kinda share ideas and if y'all are not sure, the newer ones, the older people who have been here longer should already be able to spread their own wings and fly, yknow? Idk this is just how I feel, also saying I'll be busy so I might not come here too often so just be aware. Okay? Okay.. Okay. LOL

Forgive me :rlytearpls:
