How good a vocalist is Bora?

I hope this helps:

Thanks!

I don't really agree with her balancing thing completely but I see her point.

The notes one sings in a chorus or in the middle of a section of a song that isn't the melody. Usually improvisation, but most times practiced. Like yknow when they sing like a chorus of a song and you hear random YEAAAAH or Wooo-ohhhh.. lol that's it.

Thanks!

I'm wondering because I've seen posts here complaining about adlibs and how some almost only get to sing a few adlibs.

Classical Singers use 10x the Breath Support contemporary artist use.

They must resonant on every vowel and phrase in order to be heard across the room.

They must even be heard when doing dynamics such as pianissimo.

Pop singers use amplification.

That should answer your question.

Which is why I do not like comparing Classical and Pop vocalist.

It's foolish to try to find perfection in anything honestly.

Even in opera there is CONSTANT feuds among fans on who is the best.

Thanks

Would you say that the likes of Aretha Franklin have reached a level where it's pretty much impossible to improve, and not anything to improve on? As in there's nothing that you could point out that could be better?

Is it possible to resonate in all singing?

yeah bad.

Pitchy and unstable. She got better, I have a few tracks with her more recently now that she's older, a song with Yangpa and she sounds pretty, not great vocally. But at that point she was a very VERY rough diamond at a young ass age.

Thanks!

I thought so. But what is with her voice? It's very powerful and a bit weird...

I srsly wonder what KKS might be planning/hoping for with Shannon.  Maybe slap her into a duet with Areum. >.>;;;  Unless CCM actually has other semi-promising young trainees in their dungeon.

She's probably going solo, but IMO it's a bit early as she's only 15.

Who's the best vocalist of the main posters in this thread?

I've heard AhMin sing and it was impressive

At least Tiffany is able to sing one line of a song in the correct key, the current Christina Aguilera cannot even sing a word in the correct key. Woman starts making up new keys.

Actually, it is.

Supreme musicality, when will your faves?

Ahmin is ^.^ I'm the worst and I'm proud of it !!!

Musicality ? You mean him singing a song the octaves down ?

that was a comment about Xtina, I only heard AhMin sing for like 10 seconds so difficult to say

Where yould you guys rank? Decent vocalists? Average?

Thanks for the replies! I just remembered some questions I wanted to ask a while ago: Will there be a new version of the girl group rankings, and how would SPICA rank there? I've seen people here say that they are the best vocalists in Kpop... And I find it a bit difficult to believe.

And for male idols, who is #1? Asking this because of that Junsu vs Changmin thread. Oh and I read somewhere that one of the guys from LC9 was good.

The old SeeYa or the new SeeYa? Because I know the knew SeeYa are lacking, but the old SeeYa were slaying.

I wouldn't be asking about the old one, that'd be an unfair comparison.

I'm asking because The SeeYa, LC and SPICA are the 3 vocally focused new GGs.

Well, maybe the problem doesn't solely lie in them, maybe it is the teachers~ If someone is not good at teaching you proper technique, or doesn't really know proper technique themselves there is a very slim chance that you will have proper technique. Also, it isn't like they just solely take singing lessons they have to talk dancing lessons, acting lessons, CF lessons, TV personality lessons~

Yeah but I think that the designated singers should be given easier parts in the dances, and get to practice singing more. They should still be practicing dancing along with the rest of the group so they can learn to control their breathing and thus dance and sing at the same time. They don't have to spend as much time dancing as groups that are about to debut/have debuted because they have no choreos they need to master.

Actresses are obviously in a different situation, they should be practicing acting but apart from that they should mainly be dancing and not singing at all or just singing once every now and then. Same goes for dancers. Exceptions can be made if they are multi-talented (Eunjung) or have a voice that complements the rest of the group (Jiyeon).

The entertainment agencies should have capable vocalist trainers or let their older acts train them if they are skilled vocalists (DSP should be able to produce good vocalists with Ock Joohyun in the same company).

They do.

Not when there's still 2 years until they debut. They just need to learn how to dance, not practice specific choreos (although that would probably be a part of their training too, as they'd have to practice synchronization). Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Also if they're just trainees and haven't been assigned to a group yet then they can spend even more time singing.

I'm wondering if part of it is because their schedules are so difficult. When you're first starting out, it's bad for your voice to sing for three hours without a break and I have a feeling that's what they make a lot of trainees do. That with the lack of sleep makes it really hard for ANYONE to keep up good technique.

Yeah that might be the case. I don't know how the agencies draw up the schedules for their trainees but it wouldn't surprise me if they often did it without much thought, especially for the younger trainees. They probably just tell them to "improve this and that" and "train alot and improve" and the (ambitious) trainees risk overworking themselves and damaging their vocal cords.

And whenever you see or hear of idols practicing it's in the dance studio.

Well with the exception of this:

The Seeya's main vocalist isn't bad, she has a pretty voice but I haven't accessed her like in detail..

ok thanks

How do Chocolat's vocalists count? Who is best, Melanie or SoA? Are they as good as you?

which idol singer has deep throated sang before

I'd say IU but not sure if Heechul has enough to deepthroat.

No... and Melanie is better~ <3 She's still Tier 3 though.. >_< better than Tiffany I'd say though lol and OMG. LOL

You're better than Tiffany and Jessica? :stare:

I didn't know Melanie was that good.

Melanie is better, apparently she's around Jessica level according to AhMin~ no, they're below him.

I would not start anything with them thanks LOL

But it'd be hilarious. OH can promote you like AKP (possibly) did with that girl group New F(x) (or whatever their name was).

To stay on topic, how do these rank as vocalists: Eunjung, SoA, Hyomin. If they're even good enough to rank.

what music theory class.. lol

I said weak average lol like weak ass average, bottom average

YES U CAN. I hate it when certain ppl think they're awesome R&B singers and sing like every line with runs, it takes away from the music so much lol

Still average :datass:

I have questions to ask but I think I'll do it tomorrow. Or maybe make a specific thread for it because it could be a long discussion.

If I even remember it.

This page :derp:

We started learning that first semester. Well if and when you start learning counterpoint, come back to me and tell me it's fun. Also our theory teacher banned the I-IV-V-I cadential progression because it was "a pop progression". LOL I thought of you.

That's pretty shitty I think. Unless you're specifically going into Opera or something. And then it's still weird because if it's theory you should be allowed to study other "fields" too. Not be constricted to just classical.

It's pretty bad since we have jazz majors in the class too who are all like WTF man, we use that all the time. But it's nothing new, my music school is pretty classical centered. The music history class is even worse since it's three semesters of strictly western classical music. There's one semester of world music where we study literally every other genre. But most people in the program are going to go on to play in an orchestra anyway.

Ah I see. So the course is focused on one kind of music, almost tailor made.
