EXO’s Chanyeol has taken to SoundCloud for the first time in over nine months to pay tribute to Chester Bennington, the lead singer of American rock band Linkin Park who passed away earlier this week.

 

Joining fans from around the world in grieving the death of such an influential musician, Chanyeol honored Chester Bennington by uploading a cover of Linkin Park’s newest track “Heavy,†which was released earlier this year. “Heavy†depicts the desperation of a person weighed down by depression to the point of not being able to go on.

 

Chanyeol also shared his cover on Instagram with the message, “Your music will forever be my aspiration. R.I.P Chester Bennington.â€

 

 

On July 20, Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington was found dead in his home. Chester Bennington was a major influence in American rock music and will be greatly missed by fans worldwide.

 

Chanyeol also took to SoundCloud to share a cover of Im Se Jun’s song “Don’t Go Today†with his fans.

Aww. Tbh when I see things like this. Tributes and stuff that people are doing. I still can't believe it. Chester had always been in a dark place and the death of his good friend may have been what put him over the edge. It's hard to believe he's gone. You can really see how much Linkin Park's lyrics and music has touched and inspired people. Alot of those lyrics coming from Chester himself. He was really loved and still is.
