What albums do you consider "Must Have/listen" for J-Pop fans?

It's hard to say since jpop is a vast genre and it depends on what type of music you like to listen to. Depending on what area of j-music someone listens to they'll tell you something different

If you just want plain album recommendations,

A recent personal favorite is Sekai No Owari's Entertainment

Which includes this song

Since I do listen to a lot of indie/rock (very few in the japanese section), I would recommend you to give Wienners, UNCHAIN and andymori a try. I won't give you a specific album to go for, but it would be a lot better for you to get a taste of their music style by listening to title tracks for starters.

Aside from that I do enjoy a handful of J-pop albums such as Iconiq's "Change Myself", Elisa's "Rouge Adolescence" and Tackey & Tsubas "TEN" and "2wenty 2wo"

From a rock/pop-rock (somewhat more the latter) stand-point, I'd recommend the following:

Bump of Chicken - orbital period / Yggdrasil (might even add RAY to this list, though it's still too fresh in my mind for that to really be a fair consideration)

RADWIMPS - Batsu to Maru to Tsumi to

Mr.Children - Shinkai / Bolero

HY - Parade

Southern All Stars - Killer Street

B'z - LOOSE / The 7th Blues

Yuzu - 1 ~ONE~ / Shinsekai

UVERworld's stuff is generally hit or miss for me, but I'm loving this. Gonna go check out more of their stuff.

And pick an album by Utada.

Good luck finding any of them. I mostly listen to singles myself, but these are some pretty good albums.

From the pop genre I would recommend Dream's 7th Anniversary Best of Dream Album, it has a vast variety of various sounds; from eurobeat to dance music.

I really like this, at first I thought it was going to be sort of rock/rap. I got the album it was on and so far so good!

So after listening to a few of their songs, this is what I love about J-pop, its upbeat fun and just addicting.

I bought their "Entertainment" album this song was on but will probably get others when I can

I was planning on replying to everyone seperately but I couldn't get on here for a while and some people have posted quite long lists, which I'm grateful for as it's given me alot to listen to!

From this thread I've found alot of artists I probably wouldn't have given a chance so thank you to everyone!
