sparkle dust 1,841 Posted July 19, 2017 Share Posted July 19, 2017 I started watching Secret Love Affair because I love Yoo Ah In and classical piano music, I had also seen many positive reviews and the atmosphere that the show presents is very different from a typical k-drama. I thought I could overlook the shocking age difference between the two main characters but after 5 episodes, I can't bring myself to do it so I dropped it. There are some good korean dramas but you gotta weed through a lot of them and then even in the good ones I just don't care for a lot of korean drama acting in the first place. Btw it's really hard to find a kdrama with the same atmosphere as SLA. Maybe writer/pd's other work Heard It Through The Grapevine can interest you but warning, it's kinda a suffocating drama. I feel like all dramas in 2017 (so far) will be shitty, so I don't even start to watch them. Last one I watched was White Nights and I dropped it around episode 12, not sure why tho... It has some of SLA's vibe but the plot, characters, atmosphere really suffocates you. Even though actings were great and directing was cool too. The plot is just boring for me but kim jiwon is really pretty so i endured to ep3 for her. not a recent drama but romantic doctor teacher kim. this drama got good acting and had high rating in last year. But since i work in medical related field, i cant help to use my knowledge to judge the drama when watching it and some of the scene are unrealistic to me. I swear every Shin Se Kyung drama I decide to try out just ends up being a bad time. The story was also boring and I couldn't be bothered sticking around to see if it would get better. Not THAT recent but I also dropped Rebel. Not because I hated it or anything but I wasn't up for the heart-wrenchingness and table flipping I would have to go through to finish it.
