They can offer advice when needed, but not lord over them or manipulate them that they have to do this or they disappoint the family In many Asian families, mom chooses the girl for the son and if she doesn't approve of a certain girl, her son will listen. Don't like this aspect. Yeah that's how it is and also gay people have to marry the opposite gender to make their parent's happy if they don't accept him/her being gay. In the end they have all to marry someone they don't love gay or straight to give grandchildren to their parents and even when married parents have the say too it's really sad but we have to respect our parents and elders I hope it changes the younger generation is more open minded and tolerate interracial couples too. However, that is the movie's final ending and I probably just spoiled the whole thing oopsie. It actually might help you be able to watch it if you know the ending though.
