Exotic♕Queen♛ 607
Like how do I wash when in braids, how long it last, etc.I want to get myself cornrows for my 23rd birthday coming up which is 4 days from now, but I heard such braids are very limited since hair grows out and it won't look as good. I want to still look fresh for my bday. Despite the fact that I'm half black, I never tried any "black hairstyles" before because growing up, my white mom wouldn't let me and say they're ghetto. But now I'm going to be a new me and it's always good to be adventurous and try things different. I want the simple pigtail 2 braid cornrows like so. A little more info on my hair: It's type 3B fine hair, with low porosity, and unknown density (I think it's low too but not 100%). Also my hair is a dry mess at the moment because I've been too lazy to moisturize and probably doing something wrong in general anyway since it dries quickly, especially in the back of my head. Do I have to do something before heading to the salon to get my braids done or is that not necessary?
Cornrow Kenny 323
Don't touch ur braids to much or you'll have fly away hairs and It'll look messy And don't make the braids too tight or you'll get a headache

dux 3,142
the left are french braids sis its not really a huge thing, how long do u plan on keeping them in? just do them the day before your bday if you want to keep em looking fresh are u doing it urself or getting it done? if theyre done well theyl last for sure. sleep with a satin scarf to keep it from getting messy and for me mine last a week or two before they get messy but ive pushed for a month, but not as a "Style" just as a way to keep my hair under control. and i usually do alot more than two lmao but thats just for my texture. ull look fly afff dont worry. i cant belieev ur mom would say that tho! Orangey 3,472
Yeah, wear a scarf. I'd avoid water touching your hair unnecessarily while braided too (moisturize though). You can't really wash your hair with the braids, or you have to be really careful and just focus on the scalp. Guess you can always touch up with gel if you start to get flyaways. I'd say the style can last a week or two.
Olivia Colombia 159
Also make sure u can really trust the stylist bc i've seen/heard so many black hair horror stories where the stylist f-ed up protect your hair girl
