The other group I stan only had one comeback this year. I expected Fromis to be active by now. Maybe even reaching the end of their promotions. So yea I've been feeling the drought for a while now too😪

On top of that, the Mnet scandal wasn't the type of "weather" I was expecting...💀

I'm happy Hayoung is on KOMS and we're still getting the FM videos every week. However it's not enough to keep this drought away.

Can we at least start seeing some preparations and teasers for their Japanese debut OTR?! Maybe that will still happen before the year is up...All the Japanese magazine interviews got me excited and my hopes up.

I get OTR might be trying to stay low in Korea till everything is released from the investigation. Which why is it taking so long? Is it over yet? idk

The investigation may take a long time and it sucks since they say nothing about fromis

Also, some big people at CJ are being arrested, and CJ is the source of money to OTR, so everything is so quiet these days

Yes, In order for Fromis to do anything whether that's in Japan or Korea, they need money.

Apparently Mnet is still willing to work with X1. So seems like CJ is fine with funding.

The biggest problem with  fromis right now - they're probably not making much money for CJ/OTR. This also could be a reason why their comebacks have been less frequent. Money is one reason I think testing the Japanese market now would be beneficial. There's no telling how long this investigation will drag on.  At least Fromis would be active and making money for the company and themselves.

I'm aware of the business/finacial considerations and the dynamics of the ongoing scandal environment. Nevertheless, the "drought" was ongoing before the scandal picked up steam.

It's perfectly understandable to invest more resources on the product that generates more revenue, but that doesn't preclude having a decent budget for your standard product.

Fromis was basically gone from Dec. 2018 until Fun promotions, then gone after again after Love Rum Pum Pum. Does that mean OTR burned through the budget with a mini album and an MV?

Aside from financial considerations, I think OTR has fallen into a pattern that is not rare across the kpop industry: agencies cannot seem to find a way to manage two girl groups at once. And if the people at OTR in charge of directly managing the girls are still the co/ex-Pledis or whatever folks, I guess I should not be surprised.

Lastly, before the scandal picked up steam, if the girls as a group were not generating as the company would've liked, that's another reason they should have looked for individual gigs. It's called diversification. It's better to move your money to a low or medium-risk stock or bond, than to just let it sit in a non-interest accruing account.

Here's hoping 2020 is a good year for the girls...

Fist off, you're absolutely right the majority of kpop companies are not good at handling more then one girl group. Many of them are not even good with one.

The cost of a comeback is not cheap, as we know. Especially the good quality that is put into fromis comebacks. Staff, producer, directors, every single person involved has to get paid. Most likely the very reason OTR/CJ cut down to doing single albums is because OTR saw it was not worth paying for more songs right now if fromis isn't able to generate what the company (and investors) wants.  The return from album sales and digitals alone is never enough for most companies. That's not how companies make their money. It's more a factor to see how big the fandom and public interest is..

So next step is to do more public activities and college events. Fromis do go to some. They could do way  more. They're probably not receiving many invitations. They haven't got any new CFs/endorsements. And they haven't started touring, so they're not making money from concert and merch either. They have done a few international activities tho.

I agree, at this point individual activities could help. I do think OTR is trying. Hayoung on MLT and KOMS, Gyuri - Drama (the same director of the previous hit Ateen), KOMS, PD48. Nakyung, Gyuri, Hayoung Saerom have also been on a few other smaller variety shows...I can't remember the names..that eating show, a makeup/beauty show. They also tried with Jisun on MLT. They used their connections to push Jiwon and Chaeyoung more towards the MC route with that little segment Mnet created on Mcountdown. I bet they were hoping that would lead to a main MC role for one of them.

Not many groups can say they had a predbut stage at a award show. CJ  invested in Idol School, two mini album, used their connections to get rookie fromis a few endorsements (contracts probably made while on IS), and then came from.9. Sales probably was lower then they expected. I feel like they expected fromis momentum to start rapidly rising but it didn't...financially. So then we get our first hiatus. During that time izone is making money and whatever else CJ is doing is making money too. Eventually they invest into Fun Factory. The sales doubled! We got a followup with Love RumPumPum. I honestly do think they were going to comeback around Oct..(that would of been only a 2 month wait tho...)
