December to January is usually saved for award shows. However fromis isn't attending any major ones, I guess

I hope OTR don't waste Jan and Feb😫....all the teasing from these different Japanese sites...then what would be the point...

I think fromis might promote in Japan in Jan-Feb; which is why I posit that a Korean comeback would probably happen until March (maybe Apr) at the earliest.

fromis nominated for awards; very nice!

Idol School investigations: just let it be done already.

(I think that last line about "illegal receptions" refers to the PD shows only, thus far. Who would've given stuff to the showrunners for IS? The parents? Not impossible, but unlikely, I think.)

-Whatever is going on with PLEDIS, CJ, BIGHIT...and IF OTR/FROMIS is involved in any way could be the reason for the long wait. Things have to be reorganized with in the companies, whether FROMIS is part of PLEDIS or not. For example; If FROMIS is not then that could possible mean new facilities, choreographer and staff for them

-If FROMIS do move to PLEDIS then they would be the only "active" girl group.

-BIGHIT has kept a relatively clean image in the industry. They like to be on top of situations and handle them the right way. This could explain why the investigation has taken so long and/or why a statement have not been released. BIGHIT is very particular about how they release statements. No lose ends.

-I heard PLEDIS CEO was in charged of FROMIS  debut album..but I'm also seeing people say that he's part of OTR too? If he abandons Fromis then that could mean again OTR is in the process of re-arranging and hiring new staff/managers. (tho they already have their own team too)

-CJ also is getting a new CEO too right?

-I lowkey feel like no one knows what to do with FROMIS. They're successful in their own right and have great potential as can be seen by their album sales. They're also a 2 year group tho. Many companies are interested in debuting a new girl groups themselves...

ughhh all of this is confusing tbh and FROMIS might be in the middle of it all - which why it's taking so long to announce anything official.

Right now just hoping we get something for FROMIS anniversary! And happy the members are optimistic about the future and continue to post fan content!

All the uncertainty sucks. Fromis had a pretty decent year in terms of sales and stuff despite it all. Imagine how better 2019 (and this year thus far) would've been if things were normal.

Hoping for some resolution sooner rather than later. We'll see...

Beside the fact that I think OTR has dropped the ball with fromis, (at least since IZ came along), on occasion, I think they're scared to death to do anything until the investigation is over.

It sucks for us, but they don't want to paint themselves into any more corners, I think. This blows...

Anytime things start looking better, something else comes along. My gut is telling me they might cancel/postpone the Japanese fanmeet in March due to the Coronavirus. So many idol groups have cancelled or postponed their fanmeet, comeback showcases and etc in Korea/China/Japan. The latest date I've seen so far is Momoland canceled their Japan fanmeet in March 19, 21...

We'll see tho..

Better safe than sorry, I guess...

I think we all want them to do well. High album sales/view counts would be empirical evidence of that. That doesn't mean that is all there is to it, of course. The inconformity comes, I think, from the gap between our perceptions as fans, rightly or wrongly, of "deservedness", and broader public reception of fromis' work (reflected in sales/views, etc).

I'll be happy with a comeback, I want the title track to be really good, and I hope they have high sales and views.

Fromis is my favorite group outside of metal/hardcore music, so I want them to do well.

Whatever happens, OTR needs to have a post-investigation roadmap to build-up/rebuild the fromis_9 brand.

I get the frustration, if IZ is around that means fromis ISN'T, and that's a bummer. Though maybe that means they're closer to coming back.

OT: I'm also none-to-pleased about the IZ comeback because they'll just completely overshadow Dreamcatcher, who's looking to put out a SOTY contender. IZ is good, but their popularity opaques the fact that Fiesta is basically Violeta remixed and remastered. Not bad by any means, but NOT the best thing since sliced bread.

To me it would make even more sense to have them at Kcon if they're in Japan anyway.

It's my perception that fromis have been received well by the fans at the different kcon events.

We know they're not the heavy hitters, but compared to the tens of millions CJ spends on the whole thing the cost of having fromis there is negligible.

Even from a business perspective there aren't that many downsides. As a parent company I'd be like, "okay fromis, you aren't making us as much money as we'd like, so here's an opportunity to market yourselves." Especially if they want fromis to be a viable group going forward.

It sucks that their Japanese activities had to be postponed, BUT this covid-19 thing is serious stuff. Better play it safe.

Three students at the state uni in my area got sent back from Yonsei and have to self-quarantine for 15 days...

Anyway, hope they have some content to hold fans over til things start to settle down some.

Long post incoming:

I'm with you guys, the OTR/Swing/Han Sung Soo thing raises all kinds of questions. Is this mostly Stone/CJ re-structuring internally to demarcate (and divide labor) between temporary group stuff and permanent (fromis) stuff? Is it a move indicating an eventual complete integration between Swing and OTR? Or is it a sign that they don't actually like having to deal with the responsibilities of having their own agency and are planning to dissolve OTR, (and thereby transfer fromis_9)?

Now the announcement may also be indicative of a couple of things (which may not be mutually exclusive): CJ/Stone's deal with Pledis is up; Pledis has recovered enough to where HSS can choose what he wants to do in working with OTR; CJ/Stone feel they don't need HSS for IZ any longer and think Swing-OTR can handle it, and/or CJ/Stone want HSS and his team to focus on fromis_9.

One thing I think it does show is that OTR has been only nominally a stand-alone (self-sufficient) agency from the beginning. They may have the financial resources that many companies don't, but maybe not the staffing (in experience and number). I do have some thoughts though (caveat: the following is mostly my impressions, who knows if they are accurate to any degree):

There has always seem to be discussion about the extent of Pledis' involvement in OTR, and it oscillates between OTR just IS Pledis; or it's mostly HSS and some staff helping OTR produce fromis/IZ. I think the reality is somewhere in the middle. I think that Stone/CJ set up OTR as, I already mentioned, only nominally as a stand alone entity, and basically contracted out a lot of the logistics, managing, producing, and day-to-day to Pledis. Probably all the top execs at OTR and maybe some of the middle management is Stone, but a lot of it seems to be Pledis staff that would've handled Pledis' girl groups (hence the controversy about prstn).

Remember Pledis was in financial straits; CJ/Stone probably worked out a deal with HSS/Pledis that would help them out with their debt. This could've included paying Pledis for use of their facilities, for producing, and for managing (meaning Pledis staff would be paid by Stone, rather than Pledis). This also probably meant Pledis/HSS couldn't refuse to take up duties for IZ, (and thus back to the issue of inequity while managing 2 groups at a time).

Yet HSS's post says he's going to focus on being Pledis' CEO, so maybe he's done with fromis too, which leaves them where exactly?

The announcements make no mention of fromis_9, so I'm hoping CJ/Stone have a team to focus on them, to try to make up for what almost seems like the "lost year" of fromis_9. Anyway, whatever the re-structuring and re-shuffling games are between Swing/OTR/Pledis I hope it doesn't cause any prolonged instability for fromis, we don't need another "Saga of Uncertainty." The girls need to be someplace where they are stable, where they are respected, and taken care of, in a personal and in a business/commercial sense.
