'Show Me The Money 6's youngest contestant Jo Woo Chan opens up about his struggles on the show

On August 25, the remaining 6 contestants competed in the semi-final battle on Mnet's 'Show Me The Money 6'!

The show's youngest contestant in history and also a known Cube Entertainment trainee - 12-year old Jo Woo Chan - went up against rapper Woo Won Jae in his semi-final match. Before his stage, the show visited Jo Woo Chan's parents at their home, where the young rapper opened up about his struggles competing.

Jo Woo Chan's dad asked him, "What was the most difficult part?" and Jo Woo Chan replied, "I had to keep up with the physical staminas of the adults on the program, and after that, I was worried when controversies arose or online comments came up, so all of that was difficult."

His parents also opened up with, "We are worried for him. If he hadn't gone on the show, there wouldn't be [such hate comments] like this. We wanted to reply to each of the comments. That's how parents are. We also feel that Woo Chan doesn't want to show his weak side. We are proud of him, but also pity him."

In his one on one interview, Jo Woo Chan relayed, "In online comments, [they would say] other people write my lyrics for me, 'He only got this far because he's young', 'Why is he here', there were a lot of comments like that, but I managed to get past that and came this far so I feel like I've been acknowledged, and I also received attention through this, so everything is very different from 4 months ago."

For his semi-final stage, Jo Woo Chan performed a song titled "VVIP" feat. Sik-K, but ultimately lost to Woo Won Jae. Check out his performance above!

to endure such comments at such a young age. I feel bad.

Whoever wrote that someone has written his lyrics for him is just malicious. His lyrics so far have well reflected his age I think. Adult won't write such lyrics imo (his lyrics are straightforward and very simple, not very complex but fits well with his age), it actually became a part of his uniquenes.

Though honestly, I'm glad he doesn't go further more than this. Top6 is really good enough. His future will be so bright and I hope to see him more in the future. 2019! I'm waiting!

to my dynamic duo hyungs -

iâ€™m team ddâ€™s maknae woochan. youâ€™ve been tired lately right?

(because) you have to create beats for us and put effort into taking care of our team.

to be truthful in the beginning during team selection i was going to go to team dok2 & jay park.

iâ€™m going to confess that at first i didnâ€™t care if i didnâ€™t make it, i was just going to go to that team anyway.

but at that moment dd hyungs called my name. ~wow~ really at that time i was feeling conflicted.

so in the end i decided to join team dynamic duo.

after that i havenâ€™t once felt regretful. our team is fun and warm and our team members are daebak jjang jjang (the best).

i learned many things after joining this team and got to work with cool hyungs so it was such an honor.

coming up this far, there were a lot of difficult points, but i could win over them bc my dd hyungs were there.
