'Show Me The Money 6's youngest contestant Jo Woo Chan opens up about his struggles on the show

On August 25, the remaining 6 contestants competed in the semi-final battle on Mnet's 'Show Me The Money 6'!

The show's youngest contestant in history and also a known Cube Entertainment trainee - 12-year old Jo Woo Chan - went up against rapper Woo Won Jae in his semi-final match. Before his stage, the show visited Jo Woo Chan's parents at their home, where the young rapper opened up about his struggles competing.

Jo Woo Chan's dad asked him, "What was the most difficult part?" and Jo Woo Chan replied, "I had to keep up with the physical staminas of the adults on the program, and after that, I was worried when controversies arose or online comments came up, so all of that was difficult."

His parents also opened up with, "We are worried for him. If he hadn't gone on the show, there wouldn't be [such hate comments] like this. We wanted to reply to each of the comments. That's how parents are. We also feel that Woo Chan doesn't want to show his weak side. We are proud of him, but also pity him."

In his one on one interview, Jo Woo Chan relayed, "In online comments, [they would say] other people write my lyrics for me, 'He only got this far because he's young', 'Why is he here', there were a lot of comments like that, but I managed to get past that and came this far so I feel like I've been acknowledged, and I also received attention through this, so everything is very different from 4 months ago."

For his semi-final stage, Jo Woo Chan performed a song titled "VVIP" feat. Sik-K, but ultimately lost to Woo Won Jae. Check out his performance above!

 

 

 

Woochanie......... to endure such comments at such a young age. I feel bad.

Whoever wrote that someone has written his lyrics for him is just malicious. His lyrics so far have well reflected his age I think. Adult won't write such lyrics imo (his lyrics are straightforward and very simple, not very complex but fits well with his age), it actually became a part of his uniquenes.

 

Though honestly, I'm glad he doesn't go further more than this. Top6 is really good enough. His future will be so bright and I hope to see him more in the future. 2019! I'm waiting!

He was handsome in Soyeon's MV. His visual seems to be more mature and less child-like lately. His height also seems to grow quite a lot. By 2019, I feel like he'll be ready to grab all the noona's heart.

His voice became deeper!! I love his OG School project, glad to see Woochan debuting. I went to checkout kpopstar6 clips of Park Hyunjin, he's also really good. So much talent for their age.

Because I'm back in my drama watching land and Jasperland  .

 

 

I admit that I lost interest in W1 and to kpop in general (was never a huge kpop fan to begin with). I realized I just like p101 era of cube boys, I miss my chicks, only casually following them now. Watching some shows with Linlin. I do keep track of new kpop songs though, not all but I have heard JBJ, Sunmi and Chungha new songs.
