Hazard125 4,484 Posted July 13, 2017 Share Posted July 13, 2017 I don't really compare different musical genres much, they all have a few truly excellent original artists at the top, a bunch of mediocre ones that you love if you love the genre and then a lot of pretty awful stuff. I haven't found anything like Kendrick in kpop. But there isn't anyone like Kendrick in the west either. Western pop music can be pretty banal, ridiculous and meaningless, but sometimes it has a rawness and ingenuity that can touch a chord pretty deep. I've been obsessed with Kesha's "Praying" since it came out. I love the brightness of Kpop, the choreography, but there hasn't been a lot that hit me that deep.
