impromptutraveler 3,783
Just stop spending money on stuff you don't really need, it's hard at first but you'll get used to it I just saw that you give it to your family and that's something i'm not familiar with, do they pressure you? Aearom 1,071
I personally keep money in 2 accounts only one of which has a card and I only put the amount equal to my budged in the one with card.
rose 506
The problem is that, i don't spend on me, but I always end up giving it to my family... Do you give it to them from your own free will or do they ask? You could try talking to them and letting them know you wish to save up money to buy a place to live and since you're still living with them, you shouldn't have any need to spend much if they're covering things like utilities and etc. EDIT: Well if that's the case, OP. Sometimes you have to be a little selfish and not lend them money, especially if you're struggling to save money since you eventually want to move out. soyundorito 828
I don't spend money on myself, I only buy clothes/things when my dad gives me money, but I always end up lending my money to my family, and I take our dog to the veterinarian, buy medicines, etc And since they know I don't waste it they always ask me to lend them some... i used to have money on a piggy bank but it always disappeared so I stopped... I lend my brother $50 some years ago, because I though he was asking for it to buy my nieces presents for Christmas since he was jobless, but he used it on a New Years party... I also gave my mom my whole first payment because she wanted to buy an outfit to use at my cousin's weeding.. but I later found out that she gave it to my brother
sungjins 676
- I personally don't buy stuff unless I really really need something. I used to buy out of impulse but not anymore. - I don't have a separate savings account so I just trust myself to keep my money in my account and because I don't like buying things using my card I don't spend what's on there. Also- if you buy online, don't save your card details. I used to do that on websites like Amazon which made buying useless stuff really easy and quick. - I've gone back to my old technique as a child which is hiding my money, forgetting about it and coming back to it a few months later. I found £120 of birthday money I forgot I had a few weeks ago lmao. just make sure it's in a not too forgettable place

Kayou 3,955
First and the most important thing: Once you receive some money, 10-20% of it must be saved/deposit in the bank and you should never touch it like forever, unless really urgent (health/accident/etc). The more you can save the better, if you're not married you can even save 50% of it, well depends on your income. Deposit is good since you can't recklessly take the money anytime you want 20% you use for yourself, shopping, vacation, etc. If you want to buy expensive stuff you should save it for few months. The rest you can use it for your living or family. You put limit on how much you should spend, like x $ for food a month, and it should not be over that number. Clarity 70
What I do to save money since young is to save around 50% of my monthly allowance and store the rest in a bank and i only use the rest for food, transport etc. Im not really interested in fashion or makeup so i usually don't end up overspending. Simple begin with lies. "I have no money with me..." "The dog eat my money..." "I lose them somewhere". Stuff like that. Jk. If you aren't a loser tell them the reality.
