I need some gift giving advice

OK, so here's the issue:  I enjoy knitting and I'm planning on making a sweater for every family member for Christmas this year (that's four adult sweaters and three children sweaters). It's going to take me some time to work my way through the list, so I'm starting this month.  I have every single one picked out (and yarn ordered or on hand) EXCEPT for my brother-in-law.  I have several picked out, but I can't decide which one.  That's why I'm asking for help on here (I like to keep it a total surprise from my family what the finished thing will look like).

 

This guy is in his mid-30s, father of 3, and loves super heroes and Dr. Who.  He doesn't care about fashion, but if someone buys him clothes he will wear them, so he mostly wears things like GAP and Banana Republic (conservative, plain, boring).  My sister requested that his sweater be ice blue, but other than that, it's a free for all.
