There are so many idols who are pretty, but Suzy has the aura which made her stand out and become a household name. There were several other trends which has not become as successful as her.

I have a feeling that JYP doesn't want another Suzy. Suzy overshadowed her whole group,and while she's widely successful the rest of miss A are practically nugus.It's more profitable for him to create a Yoona(an it girl,who's in a group where all the members are somewhat popular).

 

JYP's mediaplay really helped Suzy.JYP initially media-played Tzuyu a lot too,but after her scandal they stopped.Which I think is better for twice in the long run.

exactly, people always wonder why certain celebs aren't as popular as they have the potential to be and the answer is because they just have bad luck/bad timing. Even if JYP tries to make a second Suzy it won't be possible without luck and a well timed comeback (girl's day with Expectation, SNSD with Gee), acting job (Suzy with Architecture 101, Yoona with You are my destiny) or variety show appearance (Song Jihyo joining RM, Ciao Lu on Radio Star)

End of the day media play,no matter how much netizens complain give members/groups more attention.

 

When twice first debuted,there were a lot of articles about Tzuyu and her visuals,and JYP definitely contributed to that. So a lot of netizens would complain about it.If JYP continued only giving attention to Tzuyu,twice  could have ended up like miss A. However,Tzuyu got into a huge political scandal(she held up a Taiwan's flag instead of China's),so basically twice can't really expand in China because of that. I guess after that scandal JYP kind of wanted Tzuyu to lay low,plus soon after twice went viral with CU,and all the members claimed popularity in Korea. Tzuyu doesn't really do solo cfs anymore either,and nowadays in twice's cfs Nayeon/Sana share  center/screen time with her because all 3 are popular.

 

Suzy's title is actually above that of an 'IT' girl. I guess an 'IT' girl would be Seolhyun? IT girls basically have a lot of cfs,and have high public recognition. Yoona was an it girl,but I personally don't think that she's as big as Suzy in Korea right now. Suzy ranks higher on gallup for public recognition(keep in mind that both Suzy and Yoona had only done acting roles that year so it was expected that they'd rank low for idols,however Suzy still ranked higher) . Yoona has a bigger fandom,but I'm pretty sure Suzy has more cfs.I guess SM was smart enough to not promote Yoona excessively like JYP did with Suzy,because now SNSD as a group is very profitable than Yoona,but in Suzy's case Suzy's more profitable that miss A. I would say that Yoona was an 'it' girl during SNSD's prime years,but now she's more of an actress,so not really 'trending'.

 

SM has more IT girls because SM has more groups with more members,and SM groups have more longevity.

Even if you go by the current generation,Tzuyu/Nayeon have more public recognition than all the RV members,and Somi/Jeong ranked higher than everone except Irene,plus Sana manages to go viral for the most random things,but knowing JYP anything could happen.

It's really sad that they were prohibited to give expensive stuffs, rice wreath etc to their idols. That's why sometimes I feel that they don't received as much love as other company's idols. But now I do know why.

Plus, they're more strict when it comes to rules and contracts, while if you compare it to JYP, they were more of a family base. They will let their artist go despite of being unprofitable. Somi is actually quite popular,she does have a lot of fan power,and high public recognition according to gallup where she ranked 15,tied with Suzy and twice's Jeongyeon.. Tzuyu,Nayeon,and Irene are the only new gen female idols who ranked above her. But last year was when ioi was doing really well,and somi was everywhere,I'm not sure how high she'll be this year.
