Korean food is not spicy at all. I'd go with Sichuan. Those peppercorns are spicy af.

? I've had Korean food and had to reach for water/milk when eating tteokbokki and spicy tofu soup at a normal spicy level, and I'm someone who likes to put sriracha on her food and can tolerate some wasabi.

But I've had some Sichuan food and the foods I've tried (mapo tofu, kung pao chicken before I went vegetarian) weren't that spicy to me at all? Or perhaps the Chinese restaurants I ate them at didn't make them that spicy.

Maybe because I'm Korean, but most spicy soups do nothing to me. Some teokbokki can be pretty spicy though, especially the ones that are meant to be challenges.

When I went to China, the hotpot and noodles I ate were so spicy. Not really a pleasant spice, but a really numbing and painful spice.
