Korean signings vs Western artist signings

I visited america and went to LA and at the time little mix were doing fan signings. I've been to a korean fansign before and this was the first one doing it for a foreign artist (though this was in 2013)

but it's so rushed compared to korean signings. you can't even barely get out a hello. not to mention they don't even dedicate the autograph to you by writing your names, i would say it ended in about 5 seconds and i could hardly even look at their faces.

and some kpop groups (usually all i think excluding sm [emoji19]) will let you ask a memo question for the artist and they answer it. you can actually talk to them, of course not for long amounts of time, but it's actually worth a signing.

this shocked me, and i wouldn't waste my time going to another western artist signing again. i wish more korean companies would allow their artists to do more overseas ^^ (some are doing this more and more) even tho their could be a language barrier, i still think it would be worth more than a concert at some times to be able to talk to them. but why not do a concert and a fansign as well? lol it would be more album sales as well.

the artists signings i've been to in korea are nct 127 + dream, seventeen, sf9, loona, and apink :)

have you been to a fansign before?

You've seen nct in person I'm so jealous :ahmagah:

There's generally more fanservice in Kpop than western pop so that's not surprising. In Kpop, it's like the idol is lucky to have you there, in western pop, you're lucky to be in the presence of such greatness :imstupid:

I live in america. I listen to a lot of old school music. I don't live the new generation of rappers especially trying to fake sing.  I'm african american and indian. Psssh I pass of american music any day for kpop. It somehow puts me in a better mood overall. N'uest , BlackPink, Twice, Brave Girls, Favorite, Hyuna, Psy, Bp Rania, 9Muses, Miss A, IOI and there groups, Favorite. Plus last not I never like boy groups. But kpop give me eye candy and love from N'uest.

Haven't been to a fansign but I got someone to get CG to sign an album customized for me when she was in Korea. I hope to participate in one myself and meet Cross Gene.

ahh that's cool! i hope you get to go as well, they're so worth it ^^

Indeed. Cross Gene are super amazing. Their managers I heard are pushy with fans though. But either way you do get some personal time.

Quite often, but it's funny how all groups have disbanded right after I attended their fansigns. There was also a bit of private talk, we had photo sessions, it was fun while it lasted.

Who did you get to meet?

exactly cause it was more casual, tons of pics, I could ask questions, it was very relaxing

What would you say to you fave CG member if you were to meet him?

I'm not sure what I'd say to Yongseok tbh XD It would have to take some time getting used to. I hope to be in Japan this winter so fingers crossed they have some sort of events there when I do stop by.

aren't there more people attending signings with western artists though? iirc kpop artists usually have around 100 fans(?) so obviously the time you spend with them will be different

it depends on the western artist you go to and the amount of the ppl that show up. obviously i wouldn't count at the lm signing, but it wasn't probably over than 200. the point is western artists could try to give more time but they don't.

Girls Aloud, Larrikin Love, Keith, Arctic Monkeys

and my local groups which aren't active or have disbanded.

Fingers crossed then! x

From the Western fansigns I've been to, most don't require the purchase of a minimum number of albums, so more casual fans show up, making the line longer.

If you want to chat with Western artists at signings, try book signings. Charlie Jane Anders would have talked to me for an hour if I hadn't had to leave.

Western singers have fansigns? I thought they usually just did...like VIP events before concerts...i guess the "autograph sessions" Are like fansigns?

i think they aren't as popular anymore but i guess you can call them autograph sessions, you just had to buy an album and they would sign it.
