Should I double cleanse my face even though I don't wear full face makeup?

Will it benefit my skin more if I double cleanse every night? I rarely wear foundation so I don't know if it'll be worth the time.

Currently I am using a gel cleanser from No.7 for my nighttime skincare routine, and I'm planning to purchase an oil cleanser to use along with it...

if i don't wear any make up at all then i will skip double cleansing and straight to my foam cleanser

but even if you don't wear foundation but still wearing other make up products like cushion, powder or blush etc, double cleansing is still pretty much needed

In general, I don't think it's a very good idea because (as others have said) it can cause your skin to dry (you don't want your skin to flake!). However, i think it would depend on your skin type/the current condition of your skin? If you face is very oil, then washing twice my not make it dry so much.

My best suggestion would be to maybe try it for a couple of nights and see how it works for you!

(Sorry, this probably wasn't too helpful...)

Although i rarely wear make up, my face is oily with clogged pores and i ride motorcycle to work so i need to double cleanse. If oil cleanser is too stripping, you might want to use cleansing balm as it still retain the natural oil of your face.

But we have different skin type and probably lifestyle so it might not suitable for you

I only double cleanse if I wore sunscreen for the day (since r/AB says that you need to double cleanse if you've been wearing chemical sunscreens...but idk if you're actually supposed to or if that's just the general belief on that subreddit since I previously just washed off American sunscreen with water just fine)

The idea of double cleansing is to take all the makeup off on first cleanse, and actually cleanse afterwards. That's why you use different products for these two steps.

Now, if you aren't wearing any makeup, there is no need to go through it. It's a waste of time, and product. Make sure you get a nice cleanser that will remove all dirt and also SPF and you'll be fine. At most, you could use a mild lotion after cleansing but make sure it's mild and it's not exfoliating your skin (like those 3-step clinique ones).
