i mean at the beginning my choices in Kpop is basically just idol groups and soloists with younger fanbases (Ailee G.Na BoA etc) but now i'm 23 and i find myself browing K-Indies most of the time like Vanilla Acoustic, 20 Years of Age , Lucid Fall, Park Sae Byul and even going to bands like Thornapple, Messgram and even less mainstream R&B artists like DAZE like wow i realized that i'm not only interested in just the K-Pop music side hell even the K-Indies and less mainstream acts have better releases right now imo

K indie and RnB music is really good

Even the less well known stuff

I think as you explore a genre more you find hidden musical gems that you dont find at the beginning

I dont really think my taste is maturing, just that I am able to find more music that is mature. Usually main stream stuff is really boppy and that can be great but, sometimes less well known mature music is good to find too

I'm the way around, back when I was younger I mostly listened to artists like Arcade Fire, Silversun Pickups and Silverchair  and now I'm into the cutest and most bubbly things I can find, it's probably because I've depression and happy songs help me to stay positive.

exploring music was one of my favorite memories of my 20s. i went metaphorical deep diving into music from the 60s and 70s and the underground scene and have a deeper appreciation of music because of it. never stopped liking bubblegum pop and probably never will tho.

The Kpop artists you mentioned don't make immature music tho, those twice badges on the other hand 0u0plz.png

it's not like you stop liking it, you just broaden your tastes.

I know, I was just pointing out that Ailee and BoA's sound is not really something to be described as immature just cos it's Kpop.

i don't think the OP meant immature as in basic, but they're pretty much standard pop. i love BoA to death but she's not reinventing the wheel or anything, whereas independent music tends to be more experimental and willing to take risks.

I think we just get tired of what we've already listened to time after time. My western faves either release music every quite a few years or already disbanded, so i don't have much to listen to from them. On the other hand, Kpop keeps me busy, which can be absorbing. I still love the acts i've listened since a teen though. And i still get these weird impulses every now and then where i have to listen to old albums and old songs and enjoy them as if it were the first time, but i get quickly tired as i've heard 'em lots of times. And just today i was thinking there's only one song i can listen to tirelessly. Ever since i first heard it, long time ago, i can't stop replaying each time and obsses over it for weeks. It has happened like 5 times at least. It's the only thing i've been playing for 5 days already... help.

I didn't mean immature as in basic either but the age demographic the music is usually aimed at. Since OP mentioned their age, I'm assuming they mentioned those artists as example of music targeted at a younger audience, whereas k-indie and other alternate genres are for more mature listeners. I think Kpop, specifically the artists mentioned, have/can have mature sounds too.

oh lol for some reason my mind interpreted "mature" as in more nuanced rather than to demographics but your interpretation actually makes more sense, whoops. if that's the case then yeah, i see what you mean.
