Tell Me Your Kpop Story

I'll start!

Some friends mentioned G-Dragon in 2011 and I had no idea what they were talking about. Didn't give it a second thought until we were at their house and they made me watch Heartbreaker (I was really not here for that) and Tonight by Bigbang.

Still wasn't really into it but I was bored 1 night and discovered GD & TOP - watched High High, was intrigued and then found Knock Out. From their I was a tentative fan until I saw the Big Show DVD from 2011 and I was hooked.

several years, 1 ultimate bias change, and many concerts later and I'm still here- not as involved and I lean towards k-indie now but it's been an interesting ride.

How about you?

Uhh,, One of my twitter mutuals was talking a lot about Taemin in 2014 before his solo debut so I started googling and researching him and I got into him and kpop right then and there. I was around for his first solo stage and everything and I have a lot of good memories. Even though after that I found out about EXO and now I'm a bigger EXO-L then a Taemint (I have always hated that name)

I found Super Junior - H Cooking? Cooking! video on youtube in 2008. I was young and convinced Kpop = Rainbows and Unicorns.

Around the same time, I was already into Kdramas and 1 of the Kdrama recap blog I followed is friends with a blog that blogs K entertainment as a whole. So I also visited that blog and this led me deeper into Kpop.

So I was browsing 4ch while listening to some heavy shit, and I come across the daily kpop thread in /wsg/ and I had heard of this thread before because a mate of mine irl goes on that thread, and most of the time I'd just ignore it because I couldn't be bothered going into it, but for some reason on that day I went into the thread and checked a few webms

I then saw the holy grail which was the TREN-D dance video of their song Candy boy

And immediately after I saw the webm of Momo dancing in the bus to LOA

And then I was hooked into this mystical magical world of kpop and I haven't looked back since

Well my first kpop encounter was in 2013 when my friend showed me Fantastic Baby, im probably not the only one who felt like this but i regretted watching it and listening to it lol

So because of that and the prejudice i already had for kpop i didnt check it out again in 2015 when the TheFineBros uploaded a Teens Reac to EXO - Call Me Baby, i liked it then i listened to EXODUS and i liked it a lot, then when i checked the video again i see a comment where someone was suggesting teens to react to BTS - War Of Hormone, i go listen to it and that was it for me. I checked out everything about bts from variety to music, became a stan and still stan them since then.

I actually kind of refused to listen to K-music for a while when I initially got into J-rock and J-pop, I'm not sure why, though, lol. But, I started talking to a girl on Jpopasia who was the opposite of me, she wasn't into J-music, so we agreed to recommend each other some songs to try. She was a huge VIP and recommended me a couple of Big Bang songs, and even though I liked them, I ended up ultimately getting into K-pop thanks to Super Junior, who I found through the recommended videos.

I always liked Kdramas and found that many of the OSTs that I enjoyed were sung by Kpop idols. So on YouTube, I begin to search for Kpop and found some Boyfriend songs which I really enjoyed. I then discovered Vixx and they became my first bias group. I also followed the react series and saw some of my first kpop mvs through the "youtubers react."

My cousin introduced me to TVXQ and I love every bit of them, but they fell apart, long story- I met shinee and infinite. I was pretty into Infinite I went into their tour and bought plenty of merchan, but that's it until I discovered exo lol I used to be a hardcore exo-l, went to their tour few times and spent a lot of money fir them, I used to judge and drag BTS a lot bcs I have these fellow exo-ls in the internet who keep brainwashing me that we have to hate bangtan, so I did kind of judge them even though I'd never listened to their discographies or their mvs.

I was so childish back then I want to throw up? Lol

So long story short, I kinda moved out of kpop to focus on my study and then I met bts

it's great because I fell in love with BTS through their music first, I listened to a random playlist in youtube which plays Save ME and that time I didn't even know it's BTS' song, so yeah after that their music is like a sensible friend who console me and be there in every single epic moment of my life, their music is kinda like my life OSTs lol
