The show's a hit and a catchphrase by Kris (Do you have freestyle?) is the most popular phrase on Weibo right now. It's used by celebrities too like Zhao Liying, Ming Xi and even NCT member Winwin.

Read interview below to know Kris' thoughts on hip hop and why he joined the show

wtf is pan wei bo doing a hiphop show lmao

this show needs: Machi, MC Jin and LMF in this show...not Pan Wei Bo lol

Kris is okay because I feel he represents like the new generation fusion but Pan Wei Bo here is like having Luo Zhi Xiang here - good popstars but not the best people for Rap of China. Leehom would probably be more suitable lol

You should watch until the end. You'll hear a familiar voice. hurrplz.png

Ok I like the show. It's quite interesting. Is this the Chinese ver of SMTM or China's own? bc the format is similar. Some people were really cringe-worthy. I had to look away from the screen when it came to certain people bc it was awkward lol. I feel like there weren't many contestants that impressed me. Idk maybe I had my expectation high and I'll probably see more of their talent when they start rapping with the beat. Anw that gif of Kris makes me laugh so much. I keep replaying that part when I was watching too haha.

You know, I didn't think I'd like this, rap usually isn't my thing, but I checked it out because of Kris, and it was interesting. I just picked my favorite contestants based on their personalities and such though, since I can't judge rapping. Off the top of my head, some that I liked were the girl with the music note on her neck, the guy with the blunders, the pretty college girl, and the primary school teacher. My least favorite was probably the guy who was up against his fan. I felt bad for Luka, seeing people cry makes me cry too. Actually, that's one reason why I try to not get pulled into watching competitive shows because there are always tears, but I end up watching them anyway. I wanted to give Luka a hug watching her. HipHopMan, whoever he is, is my new favorite superhero. Really though, I like most of the contestants, and I wish them all luck~

In conclusion, I know nothing about rap, but I'll probably keep watching the show.

Which youtube upload are you talking about? iQiyi doesn't have an official Youtube channel.

Yeah, iQiyi is like Youtube but the difference is they produce their own content and shows too.

First ep on iQiyi has 170 million views. Second ep that aired last night has 98 million views.

The pd said that the show is called "China Got Hip Hop" while Al Rocco did his thing entirely in English.

It wasn't just that he performed an all-English rap. It's because he CAN'T rap in Chinese. He isn't fluent enough to write rhymes and rap in Chinese yet. He should hone his Chinese and try again next year. He's good. He might win.

Here's my two cents:

  1. I still don't understand why they didn't cast MC Jin, Jay Chou, or even Vanness Wu as producers. You would think they'd actually get hip-hop artists as producers.
  2. The Japanese girl that rapped in Chinese is crazy.
  3. More people would have passed had Kris not asked them to "freestyle" every single time
  4. Why am I hearing verses from Eminem and Iggy Azalea
  5. And as stupid is the concept of them really having to rap in Chinese, you don't really expect to go far rapping in English in a show called "The Rap of China".

Speaking of MC Jin, I thought I saw the last of him, come to find out he's actually za5g21G.png

1. No one's going to watch a show headlined by MC Jin or Vanness Wu. That's just the honest truth. Neither of them can attract an audience nowadays. Jay Chou is already judging a different talent show.

3. He only asks for freestyles from those he thinks has potential but gave mediocre to terrible auditions. He would have failed them outright had he not asked them to give freestyles. That was his way of giving them second chances.

He passes those who impressed him with their first performances. Example: Jony J, TT, Hiphop Man, etc. He doesn't ask everyone for freestyles every single time.

So no, you're wrong actually. More people would have failed if Kris didn't ask them to freestyle. If Kris was going to judge them based on the first performance they gave, he won't give them the chain. Luckily he gives them chances to redeem themselves.

Do you think the line-up could have been tweaked better though, considering it's always Kris that judges them hard the most?

Not sure what you mean? It's Wilber passing the wack rappers lmao. It's their job to find good rappers for the show.

Kris is strict because he needs to be strict. Someone has to do the job they are supposed to do. The other judges are... let's just say.... weird. You'll see in the second episode. It's why Kris is getting praise now all over Weibo lol. He's a hard guy to please but that's how you find good rappers.

That's also why the best rappers in the show are going to end up choosing to be on his team

LOL I mean the line-up for the producers lol. It's obvious that Kris has the upper hand already. But you're right, I skipped towards the end with hip-hop man after Wilbur passed that teacher that sounds like he just gargled toothpaste after originally failing him

I have nothing against Wilber but he's a pretty bad judge. He's just so indecisive. In the second episode he also brings back a rapper after already choosing to fail her. It was a mess. She wasn't even good!

Please tell me it wasn't the girl that was staring at the camera and he needed to stop her.

Joanne, I think is her name?

Well thankfully we didn't have to get subjected to another performance from Joanne lol. It's someone called Swaggie. She wasn't bad but she wasn't good enough to justify resurrection lmao.

I honestly don't know anything about rap, but this show is cringe and I love it.

The judges are messy:

The duo of producers who have different opinions in the first episode with the first rapper making it awkward. Then one of them is about to eliminate the twerking girl while the other one passes people who have courage and strong attitude to rap making other experienced rappers angry for passing idols with "no skills" and eliminating legit rappers.

Kris's seems like a pretty good judge, always having something to back up and standing for himself.

Wilber is too kind letting 3 chances on the first round. He started following other judges decisions leading to the messy situation at the end and loosing credibility.

And they also get the anger of the masked man who seems to be a truly good rapper. At that point you don't know who's right lol. And you also vids of eliminate rapper dissing the show on their live.

Btw, does someone know what's the name of Evan-E girlsgroup?
