He has cancer.

Why should they even try to make him serve in the army?

He didn't have cancer smh he had a benign bone tumor

So... is he going to do a public service or?

Because I can't see many reasons why they would exempt him completely... and I'm worried about the public reaction if that's the case.

He doesn't have cancer. Its a benign bone tumor which many have . But regardless its good for his health to not be in active service.

Well is hard to do those burpees when you'r sick from the chemo and want to vomit and focus on breathing

You are confusing, the one on chemo is Kim woo bin , Yoo ah in has a benign tumor.

Public service workers have to go through the same basic training as active-duty soldiers. I don't think anyone would want him to end up in traction after every training session.

He's been trying for ages to get accepted and has veen rejected due to previous health issues (can't remember the specifics), the sarcoma is just another reason to not let him serve. Hope k-nets are reasonable and dont flood his ig/Twitter with hate comments. He's very socially conscious too about Korean things and pretty patriotic + he's a good actor - all the best to him!

I'm pretty sure this isn't exactly the same, since people who are not physically able to serve usually end up in the public section...

Yoochun needs an inhaler during concerts (severe asthma), I can't see him running for a long time like the others. Heechul has issues dancing because of a metal piece in his leg, so I don't think he could have done the same exercises either. I believe they adapt it according to the soldiers issues. Otherwise, they would just serve in the active military units, right??

Heechul managed to finish his military training although ended up doing public service. The metal brace in his legs was probably not as restrictive.
