A rat was a rodent before it became a racist slur in an isolated part of the world. Koreaboos and Weaboos not allowed in this discussion your opinion isn't important in this topic. To non Asians(and that includes all Asians, west or east) it is not a racist term, but it is derogatory still. Just look up Anti-Japanese propaganda done by the "Allied Forced" in WWII. And further, Anti-Vietnamese propaganda later on. I'm Vietnamese myself but until I joined OH I literally never knew that rat was a racist term against us. I always thought that rat used in the colloquial sense meant that someone was a snitch. I use internalized racism when talking to people who think it's impossible to be racist to your own race because it makes it easier for them to understand that you can take racist thoughts into your own way of thinking about yourself and your own race.
