TVXQ set a new record in Japan, proving its star status once again.

TVXQ’s new Japanese album Tree, released on March 5, ranked number one on Oricon’s daily and weekly chart as soon as it was released.

This is the fourth time that TVXQ’s album ranked number one on Oricon’s weekly album chart, following the best album Best Selection 2010, full length album Tone released in 2011 and Time released in 2013.

It is especially notable that TVXQ sold 225,000 copies of Tree in the first week of its release, setting a record of selling over 200,000 copies for three albums in a row, following Tone and Time.

Out of all foreign groups, TVXQ broke the record set by Bon Jovi, who sold over 200,000 copies for two albums in a row, in about 13 years.

Oricon reported through its homepage, “This is TVXQ’s third time in a row to rank number one on the album chart with full length albums, and the fourth time total. This is a record set only by American rock band Bon Jovi, among all the foreign groups.â€

It also reported, “Selling over 200,000 copies of three full length albums in a row is a new record that breaks the one set by Bon Jovi, who sold that amount for two albums in a row.â€

On top of its album records, TVXQ records having topped Oricon’s single charts twelve times, which is the highest number out of all foreign artists in Japan.
