He has requested to cancel the contract for that Chinese water cf. Thankfully he doesn't seem to getting too much negativity from it and people seem pleased with his response. He and his agents handled it quickly and well - hopefully they will cross check things before signing another contract; you know how any little can turn into a scandal in sk.

Hana Bank Opens Kim Soo-hyun Musuem, Offers Theme Passbook

kim-soo-hyun.jpg?w=600

Korean superstar Kim Soo-hyun has become so famous that there is now a special museum in South Korea devoted to him. The museum was part of Hana Bank’s latest sponsorship venture with the Korean superstar.

The museum was set up in Myeong-dong commercial district at a branch of Hana Bank. Visitors could open a new bank account where they can get a Kim Soo-hyun themed passbook.

Kim became a huge superstar in Asia after portraying the role of an immortal alien on Earth who fell in love with a girl portrayed by Jun Ji-hyun in “My Love From the Starâ€, a South Korean hit TV drama.

The Korean superstar now has a total of 16 endorsement deals in China. These include deals with Hyundai Motors, Coca-Cola, Samsung Electronics and The Face Shop. Kim would also endorse products from companies including ZIOZIA, Propecs, Semir, Beyond, Samsonite Red, Bean Pole and Petitzel.

Kim Soo-hyun would also be the leading endorser for the Lotte Department Store, Haagen-Dazs and Yili Group.

The famous Korean star has bagged a hefty CNY1 million on April 20 shortly after 90 seconds during a car exhibition in Beijing.

Aside from his newly signed 16 endorsements, the 26 year old Korean actor and model has also inked a deal with Zhejiang based Aokang Shoes. The endorsement contract, signed on May 21, was reported to have a value of CNY10 million.

Kim’s TV drama My Love from the Star has already ended last February but his fans in China have been updated about the latest with the Korean superstar. Chinese fans have been frantic in purchasing any product he has and would endorse.

Other Chinese fans also posted on Twitter-clone Weibo that they have plans to visit the Kim Soo-hyun museum in South Korea. Furthermore, fans also said that they would like to open a new account in Hana Bank to be able to get hold of the Kim Soo-hyun themed passbook.

I can't believe there's a museum dedicated to him... so will there be his first diaper, the first ever photo of him in the hospitcal, his exam results from primary school in a glass case or something??

waaah, he's so precious. He's actually my precious. Starting to feel jelly by the attention from his fans. Hahaha. Gotta share him now with billions.

o and btw, I started following exo last week (hooked by overdose) and noticed uncanny resemblance with soo hyun oppa and chen.. Even when they sing they give kind of the same feels

The only similarity shared by these two lovelies is that they underwent none or the absolutel minimal plastic surgery.

It's not the same without you  :chu:

where's SG? Hope you enjoyed your trip, did you do anything interesting?

It's like since you left, everythings been a mess. Yh saw that he is carrying on with the cf - but JJH too? Considering how much their image is going to suffer in SK, they either can't get out of their contract and/or the termination fee is too high. I'm sure they would have not done it if they could have cancelled; it's certainly not worth the negativity.

And just when we were talking about him continuing his winning streak  . I guess it had to happen sometime. Unfortunately as this is a sensitive historic and political issue, it seems like it will haunt the both of them for a long time. Hopefully his next drama will make netizens will forgive him (well until he does something they don't like again )

Abt oppa, I guess the more famous he is,the more troubles he gets in >_<.Even the god and goddess can't escape from Knetz. The word 'traitor's is too much tbh

i dunno what that is.. a water brand is hated in korea?

Actor Kim Soo Hyun, who recently requested for termination of his contract with Hongda Bingchuan (æ’大氷泉) following the controversy regarding the company’s naming of their water source, will be modelling for the company as was originally planned.

On June 25, KeyEast released an official statement on the matter: “After meetings between our agency and Hongda Bingchuan following the controversy, we would like to inform you that we have reached a conclusion. The contract between Kim Soo Hyun and Hongda Bingchuan was able to be completed as a result of Kim Soo Hyun’s high level of popularity and Hongda Bingchuan’s positive view of Kim Soo Hyun’s advertisement influence. We recognize that this is a period where we need more exchange and cooperation between KeyEast and Hongda on the basis of trust and understanding between Korea and China. We’ve agreed that the naming of the water source did not have any ulterior political motives, and all we hope for now is that there is no more misunderstanding or speculation on the matter.â€

“Accordingly, after careful consideration, rather than taking extreme measures, we decided that it would be right to take responsibility for the promises that were made in good faith,†revealing that they would be following through with the contract.

Closing, KeyEast said, “To those who worry about Korean-Chinese relations and to the fans of Kim Soo Hyun, we apologize and we promise to be more careful with our activities in the future.â€

On the other hand, Jun Ji Hyun’s agency is still in discussion with Hongda Bingchuan. The actress’s agency, Culture Depot, said, “From the beginning, we’ve been looking for a smooth solution, and we’re still negotiating with the company. We apologize for causing concern, and when everything has been sorted out, we will be back with an official statement.â€

I'm pretty sure the majority of people don't care; but you know how netizens will turn and make it seem like it's a big scandal. Luckily he's not an idol so it won't be as bad so I'm sure he will be fine, but netizens will always find a way to bring this up in future.

I wish knetz could read this article

http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/867458.shtml

Nationalism is strong in SK I guess.

All the focus seems to be on KSH, while JJH is not getting it as bad. I think it's also the way his agency handled it, plus with all the news about his many CF's it made it easier for netizens to label him as money hungry etc. instead of being more understanding.

ikr!

They feel it's a Korea vs. China thing; so even if the mountain is in North Korea and China owns half of it - China can't have it. So they see KSH accepting the deal as him admitting/portraying that the mountain belongs to China because it uses the Chinese name too

apparently the water is not even sold in Korea; yet they expect the Chinese company to use the Korean name

the history and tension between China/Korea/Japan, means that they take issue with any little thing - this is the ridiculousness of nationalism, smh.

How can he be labelled as a traitor when it's KeyEast that failed to read the details of the contract and did not do enough research on the water company?  OMG oppa get your butt back in a drama soonnow please-with-cherries-on-top.

I would say his name rings as loud as an idol's, and not an average idol's either... his reputation more or less equals to an SM employee.

Whilst the majority of the blame should got to KeyEast, I think he should also get some. Like boy should be up on his business game and not just leave everything to his agents. Hopefully from now on both him and the agents will cross/triple check everything so they don't have to deal with a mess like this again. Also his agents need to stop announcing/media playing that he so many cf deals; it makes it easier for people to want to drag him down because they will think he is doing too well. That's why they don't believe he can't get out of the water cf because they assume he can afford the termination fees.

But starting a drama now would be a good idea. I hope we don't hear another cf deal announcement anytime soon cos the netizens will attack.

true - I guess because he is seen as a hallyu star.

Whilst I understand that the agency shouldn't bear all the responsibility, but I feel that KSH isn't as experienced at searching for the "holes" in the contract as perhaps the lawyers employed by the agency.  How would he know what to spot?  The only mistake he made is that he didn't understand well the background of the companies for which he will do CF's.

I also strongly think KSH should get back into a drama ASAP; although doing CF means very good money, he mustn't forget that acting is his career, not advertising.

he should just get another mind blowing project and push this thing in forgetfulness... and no more cfs for the moment.

I only hope he chooses the ones that challenge his skills, and not do a Lee Min Ho.

I don't see anything wrong w/ him and JJH endorsing that CF tbh. That mountain has 2 names in Chinese and Korean, right.Korea doesn't own the whole mountain ofc,the chinese pp has the right to call it in chinese name

Thanks, Owl.  It just feels like it's been quite some time since KSH said he'd pick a drama once the Japanese tour ended, but it seems like doing CF's is taking foreverr.  So, is it saying that a drama will feature KSH, LMH and the Chinese actress or have the three picked a project?
