Someone tell me about this rumour; I think the main couple from The Stars will do another drama before KSH enlists, Korean ver. of a Japanese drama (directed and produced by the same crew who are responsible for The Stars as well as a Japanese crew), it's called 'Love Letter' I think.  

 

The plot sounds interesting.

 

Hiroko Watanabe (Miho Nakayama) lives in Kobe. Her fiancé, Itsuki Fujii, was tragically killed in a mountaineering accident. One day Hiroko finds Itsuki’s old school yearbook, from the time he lived in Otaru, Hokkaido. She finds an address in the book. She writes a letter and sends it to that address.

Itsuki Fujii (Miho Nakayama) lives in Otaru. She receives the letter a few days later: “Dear Itsuki Fujii. How Are you? I am fine. Hiroko Watanabe.†She is a little disturbed by the letter, but decides to write back.

Hiroko is astonished when she receives a reply. She goes to discuss it with Shigeru Akiba (Etsushi Toyokawa). When her fiance Itsuki was alive, Shigeru and Itsuki were mountaineering partners. After Itsuki’s death, Shigeru thought very seriously of marrying Hiroko. But the memory of Itsuki was a barrier between them. Soon, Hiroko discovers that the reply came from her fiancé’s classmate and namesake, Istuki Fujii, a woman. The two women begin a strange correspondence.

I haven't heard of this yet. Sounds interesting; but what character is would he be playing - the dead fiance or Shigeru (the dead fiance's best friend who loves the main lead). If it's the dead fiance then maybe it's kind of a cameo/minor role. The plot sounds interesting but seems to be more about the relationship between the lead female and the female Itsuku.

 

The Night Scholar has come back again (lmao it's exactly a year since the rumour first started ). Seeing as Keyeast bought the rights a while ago I really think they want him to do it. The power of actor Kim Soo has been proven once again. He ranked as number one in the "2014 Hallyu Star with the most influence in China" poll which was sponsored by the Chinese People's Network.
 
According to the People's Network, the online edition of the Chinese People's Daily, it was reported last Jan. 21, that the Korea Overseas Information Service hosted a poll where Kim Soo Hyun beat 99 competitors and landed on the first place of the "2014 Hallyu Star with the most influence in China".

The poll which was made via online voting for two months had 100 stars as candidates who have been recommended by the famous Korean firms to which they belong.

Kim Soo Hyun who received a total of 80, 753 votes was ranked as number 1, followed by "Running Man" singer, Kim Jong Kook who was getting increasingly popular with 39, 869 votes, landing at the second position. Lee Jong Suk, the lead of the drama "Pinocchio" was placed at the 3rd position after obtaining 5, 352 votes.

In addition to this, in the ongoing Chunwan poll of "Korean star you would want to see in the Chinese Lunar New Year special program", Kim Soo Hyun ranked the first, after being voted by 40,000 netizens, the local media reported.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun, who has swept across China through the drama "YOu who came from the stars", won the Best Global Drama Actor Award last Jan. 18 at the "15th Huading Global Awards" which was held in Macau, China. He was also chosen, along with Jun Ji Hyun as the Top Entertainment News in China last 2014, showing an amazing move every day.

Kim Soo Hyun and Park Hae Jin revealed to be strong candidates for new vampire historical drama

 

Popular webtoon 'Scholar Who Walks the Night' will be remade into an MBC drama! A historical drama that also takes on the fantasy genre with vampires, this remake might even star 'You Who Came From the Star's Kim Soo Hyun or Park Hae Jin!

Key East Entertainment's subsidiary Contents K revealed on February 2, "Currently, 'Scholar Who Walks the Night' has finished its plans and is in positive talks with MBC with July as our set goal. After this is confirmed for 'Scholar Who Walks the Night,' we plan to go into the major casting stage. Right now, nothing is decided. We plan to enter production after releasing an official statement soon when we settle everything."

The story follows vampire Kim Sung Yeol, who boasts amazing aesthetics. Two strong candidates named to play this male lead are Kim Soo Hyun and Park Hae Jin, although it appears too soon yet for any confirmation. Park Hae Jin's agency stated, "Currently, he is not confirmed for the role."

The drama will be written by Jang Hyun Joo of 'Coffee Prince' and directed by Producer Lee Sung Joon of 'The Moon That Embraces the Sun' and 'Empress Qi' to likely premiere in July.

Setting my biased feelings for KSH aside, I don't think Paek Hae Jin has the aura and presence similar to that of a male lead to steer a drama.  He is good as the second lead hands down, but I just can't see him as the male lead at all.  I really hope KSH is cast for the protagonist- I will be over the moon if he takes it: a supernatural/historical drama... I love it !

 

Wow this would be the exact role I would love seeing him play. I hope he gets the role ^^

 

I love the concept and plot too; I hope he does it. I like PHJ too so I wouldn't mind him doing it too; but boy does he work back to back - I don't think he took a break in 2014. 

 

Going forward I wonder how badly China's recent SARFT restrictions will affect licensing prices of kdramas and current/future Korea-China co productions. Particularly Descendants of the Sun which is going to be so expensive; I'm sure they were planning to make some of their money back through high licensing sales to China but things don't look good. I mean Hyde, Jekyl and Me dropped from $400K to $100k since the new restrictions.

 

I'm hoping KSH has nothing to do with Descendants because that just looks like a big bomb waiting to happen.

An official from his agency told OSEN news on Feb. 6 that "Of course, he plans to go to the army, but the time has not been established yet" and "this part has not yet been discussed in detail".

He added "When it's time to adjust his enlistment period, we will officially announce it."

Madame Tussauds to add ‘Prof. Do Min-joon’ in new K-Wave section

 

 

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will pay tribute to Korean pop culture by adding new attractions and a dedicated “K-Wave†section in the wax figure museum.

 

Among the new figures that will be added in May will be that of Kim Soo-hyun, who played Professor Do Min-joon in the blockbuster Korean television series “My Love from the Starâ€.

 

Kim, 26, will be immortalized in wax, along with six other cultural icons from South Korea in the new dedicated K-Wave section, Metro Hong Kong reported. 

 

When the new pavilion is opened, Kim’s replica will mark the one and the only wax figure of the superstar in the world, the report said, citing an announcement by the museum.

 

There will be a secret guest present on the day when the figure is officially launched.

 

Professor Do Min-joon, an alien character in the romance drama, had earned Kim the Daesang, or Grand Prize Award, the highest award for television in South Korea. Do’s image has made Kim a dream lover for many Asian girls and women.

 

Apart from the new K-Wave pavilion, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is also preparing to open another Chinese Style section in the coming months.

 

The new attractions are said to cost the museum, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, a total of HK$50 million (US$6.44 million).

 

Kelly Mak, the museum’s general manager, said the decision to add the K-Wave section was made after collecting visitors’ opinions.

 

Now, some fans might be wondering whether there will also be a wax figure of Jun Ji-hyun who played the heroine Cheon Song-yi in the “My Love from the Starâ€. 

 

Mak didn’t comment on the matter, but said that most of the newly added figures will be males. Maybe she just wants to keep the public guessing!
