"Make a better world with star" was held on the afternoon of Dec. 12 at the M Plaza Hatch Hall in Seoul where the treasured item and autograph of actor Kim Soo Hyun was exhibited. 

This event has been participated in by Korea's top actors and singers who donated their treasured items. All the proceeds from the auction of these treasured items will be passed on to the low income children through the Good Neighbors.

First of all, thanks so much for all the updates you've been contributing to this thread!  Now that Xmas holidays are in, I'm definitely going to come back!  

I knew it!  To be honest, he'll probably finish all the endorsements and whatnots before his enlistment to the military, only then (I think) will he consider roles and make a comeback to the small screen.  It's going to be a long time...

That's what I was thinking too. But people are suggesting that it could be Descendants of the Sun drama from The Heirs writer. That has over 70% shooting abroad and is big budget so would require big a listers. I don't particularly like the plot and would rather he do something where he was less pressured.

"My Love from the Star" 1 year anniversary

A special product exhibition is being held in China for actor Kim Soo-hyeon-I's SBS drama "My Love from the Star" to commemorate its 1 year anniversary.

 

According to Key East, Korea's biggest refined goods shopping mall PandaKorea.com claimed they will exclusively be supplying the exhibition with various planned goods including products he is advertising and such. Panda Korea is a partnering company in which Key East is the second biggest shareholder and aims for the Chinese market.

 

To avoid the shopping mall being overloaded, Panda Korea is accepting membership applicants first for 3 days from the 15th. Product purchases can be made starting on the 18th which is the exact 1 year

 

anniversary date of "My Love from the Star" until the 16th of February which isKim Soo-hyeon-I's birthday.

The exhibition's first event is going to involve some fan-service. A table calendar with Kim Soo-hyeon-I's pictures on it will be given out to the first 10,000 fans. For the Chinese fans, a special Chinese calendar has been made and the KOPCA hologram mark has been imprinted with a serial number to prevent forgery and increase the value. To those who purchase Kim Soo-hyeon-I perfumes, 5,000 posters will be given out. Not only that, for those who purchase theKim Soo-hyeon-I present set (calendar, diary, making DVD and poster), a mask from one of the cosmetic brands he promotes will be given out.

 

This exhibition also gives out things that were in the drama. Cheon Song-I's sleeping mask and hair band, Do Min-joon diaries and cushions as well as albums with their pictures on them are prepared for sale.

 

Key East says, "We have arranged for this exhibition to repay back those fans who have supported us". Lee Jong-sik from Panda Korea says, ""My Love from the Star" is a drama that aroused the second Hallyu wave in China. We are happy to host this exhibition which celebrates the drama and Kim Soo-hyeon-I, the star. We are going to do our best to bring the best products at a reasonable price to the Chinese fans".

I don't wish him to work with other big A-listers, that will really categorise him under big names.  Furthermore, a big-rep crew will bound to attract the wrong crowd, the ones who watch the drama because it's full of big celebs, and not for the plot.  I rather he pick something that isn't conventional and just keep exploring his career and his skills. no point dwelling on dramas like 'Heirs' etc.

 

Yeah - that's why I'm hoping it's not Descendants of the Sun. I think it would be great for him to return a "small" drama which is more muted and character driven e.g. like a cable drama. Not only would it take the pressure of him liven up to YWCFTS, but it would also allow him to showcase his acting and his versatility. It would also be a nice change. Any prime time drama he does will inevitably be compared to Star, especially if it's a romance and includes big stars.

Hallyu star Kim Soo-hyun is looking for a new drama just like his previous hit drama, he said in an interview with fashion magazine ELLE. 

“I’m looking for a new drama like ‘My Love from the Star’ but I haven’t found one yet,†he said. “Please wait a little bit more until I come back to TV.â€

 

The actor also spoke about the difficulties of acting. 

“I wonder if there are other things like acting that have no correct answers and are hard to attain perfection in,†Kim said humbly. 

 

In the photo shoot in London for the magazine, the actor showed off dark charisma and opted for an urban look. 

 

In the photos of Kim posing with a foreign model, the two look like lovers. 

The hallyu star also talked about his fashion while traveling. 

“I usually don’t wear caps. Even though it would be nice if fans didn’t recognize me while I’m traveling, I don’t want to hide myself with caps or sunglasses,†he said.

In an interview with Star News, Lee Hyun Woo was asked who he thought was more of a role model – Kim Woo Bin or Kim Soo Hyun.

 

Lee Hyun Woo was cast for the upcoming movie, “Criminal Designer,†featuring Kim Woo Bin. In his previous film, “Secretly and Greatly,†Lee Hyun Woo also worked with actor Kim Soo Hyun. Lee Hyun Woo had this to say about the two great actors.

 

“When we were shooting ‘Secretly and Greatly,’ I didn’t know much, which is why I stuck to Kim Soo Hyun hyung a lot. I learned a lot more from him because I watched him work really hard. I’m not saying Kim Woo Bin hyung didn’t work hard. It’s just that I had many scenes where I had to perform alone, so I wasn’t able to learn as much from Kim Woo Bin than Kim Soo Hyun.â€

 

“Criminal Designer†is a heist movie directed by Kim Hong Seon. It will be released in theatres on December 24.

Is Kim So-hyun succumbing to pressure?

 

 

Hallyu star Kim Soo-hyun failed to choose a new project for the next year, leaning on the popularity that he gained from his latest drama “My Love from the Star.†

“We were offered a lot of scripts, but we turned all of them down because they were not the perfect match for Kim,†an official of Kim’s agency KEAST told reporters. 

The comment comes after Kim dropped two drama offers “Frankenstein†and “The Night Walker,†that he originally picked as his next works. 

Since the launch of “My Love from the Star†in late 2013, the 27-year-old actor has been away from the acting scene. The yearlong hiatus has surprised many critics, as Kim was active both on TV and in movies since his appearance in SBS’ “Giant†(2010).

 

This year, after “My Love from the Star†concluded on Feb. 27, Kim has only had a 60-second cameo appearance in film “Miss Granny.†

Critics say Kim is caught under so-called “jackpot pressure,†because he has never failed in his previous works. All his five works from 2011-2013 -- “Dream High (2011),†“The Moon Embracing the Sun (2012),†“The Thieves (2012),†“Secretly, Greatly (2013)†and “My Love from the Star (2013)†-- have been tremendous successes, making him a world star in less than two years. 

 

With the actor planning to serve his military duty next year, his next project is likely to be his last until he finishes the two-year compulsory duty. The final performance will be the Kim Soo-hyun that the viewers would remember for at least two years -- hence the pressure. 

 

The endless promotional calls and advertisement deals, both at home and overseas, may be distracting him from the acting scene, according to local ports. But considering the ever-ongoing acting career of another profuse hallyu actor Lee Min-ho, now as successful as Kim Soo-hyun throughout Asian countries, it is hardly convincing that Kim’s schedule is too packed with commercials and promotional events.

Do you think he's going to take on any drama before his military enlistment though? I want to be realistic and face the truth, because frankly I expect nothing from him anymore except more unnecessary endorsement contracts.

Ofcourse! I mean he doesn't have to enlist until 2017 if I'm not mistaken. It would be beyond ridiculous for him not to do a drama/movie before then. I think that would be disastrous for him to spend another year just doing CF's. He was lucky to get away with it this year because Star ended in Feb, but he can't go on any longer - people are starting to get tired of it.

 

The CFs are just too many now. I wish he would pull back and be more exclusive - I think having so many will soon cheapen his value. He should honestly just keep the lucrative and premium ones and just get rid of the rest. YES to Lotte, Samsung, Ziozia, Beanpole, The Face Shop etc. But the CFs Taki, Natures Bounty, Yili, Corn Silk Tea etc. are so low brow and unnecessary for him to do.

 

I know it's just prep and saving for when he goes to the army; but I'm getting fed up tbh. He should go out with a new and impressive acting work rather than being remembered just for trendy Stars and all his CFs. I believe he knows this too and won't let us down.
