For me as long as he doesn't turn into a slob and gets back to his fighting weight when he's working then I don't care what he is like during his break.

Yh I was surprised when I saw negs in this thread.

It's kinda funny how people don't like to hear the truth, so they neg posts, what can I say?

First of all, thanks so much for all the updates you've been contributing to this thread!  Now that Xmas holidays are in, I'm definitely going to come back!

Now that  Dr. Frankenstein is out; apparently he is "seriously considering another project for 2015 that has been offered to him...it's big budget and his co-star is a screen goddess level A-lister"  http://koalasplayground.com/2014/12/05/kim-soo-hyun-declines-to-become-dr-frankenstein-and-considering-another-project/#more-62284

My bet is a Korea-China production - maybe a movie with international shooting locations.

I knew it!  To be honest, he'll probably finish all the endorsements and whatnots before his enlistment to the military, only then (I think) will he consider roles and make a comeback to the small screen.  It's going to be a long time...

you're welcome  it's a struggle to update because it's always just cfs and award news - it's starting to get annoying

That's what I was thinking too. But people are suggesting that it could be Descendants of the Sun drama from The Heirs writer. That has over 70% shooting abroad and is big budget so would require big a listers. I don't particularly like the plot and would rather he do something where he was less pressured.

I don't wish him to work with other big A-listers, that will really categorise him under big names.  Furthermore, a big-rep crew will bound to attract the wrong crowd, the ones who watch the drama because it's full of big celebs, and not for the plot.  I rather he pick something that isn't conventional and just keep exploring his career and his skills. no point dwelling on dramas like 'Heirs' etc.

Yeah - that's why I'm hoping it's not Descendants of the Sun. I think it would be great for him to return a "small" drama which is more muted and character driven e.g. like a cable drama. Not only would it take the pressure of him liven up to YWCFTS, but it would also allow him to showcase his acting and his versatility. It would also be a nice change. Any prime time drama he does will inevitably be compared to Star, especially if it's a romance and includes big stars.

Do you think he's going to take on any drama before his military enlistment though? I want to be realistic and face the truth, because frankly I expect nothing from him anymore except more unnecessary endorsement contracts.

Merry Christmas to you too Owl!

The CFs are just too many now. I wish he would pull back and be more exclusive - I think having so many will soon cheapen his value. He should honestly just keep the lucrative and premium ones and just get rid of the rest. YES to Lotte, Samsung, Ziozia, Beanpole, The Face Shop etc. But the CFs Taki, Natures Bounty, Yili, Corn Silk Tea etc. are so low brow and unnecessary for him to do.

To be honest, I think it was right of him to do all the CF's offered to him... if he only did the big brands, people may see him as some sort of snobbish celeb who became famous through some silly drama.  I kind of agree that he should lower the amount of endorsements; he ought to have chosen more carefully and be selective as to which of those he personally wanted to represent.  As in select a few popular ones and a handful of brands which aren't as big as Samsung or Face Shop.  I think he'd get more awareness if he did smaller brands instead of big ones because they're too competitive, and I also hate how he is compared to other actors who are competing in other boutiques.

Thanks ohsolively for all the updates!

Someone tell me about this rumour; I think the main couple from The Stars will do another drama before KSH enlists, Korean ver. of a Japanese drama (directed and produced by the same crew who are responsible for The Stars as well as a Japanese crew), it's called 'Love Letter' I think.

The plot sounds interesting.

Hiroko Watanabe (Miho Nakayama) lives in Kobe. Her fiancé, Itsuki Fujii, was tragically killed in a mountaineering accident. One day Hiroko finds Itsuki’s old school yearbook, from the time he lived in Otaru, Hokkaido. She finds an address in the book. She writes a letter and sends it to that address.

Itsuki Fujii (Miho Nakayama) lives in Otaru. She receives the letter a few days later: “Dear Itsuki Fujii. How Are you? I am fine. Hiroko Watanabe.†She is a little disturbed by the letter, but decides to write back.

Hiroko is astonished when she receives a reply. She goes to discuss it with Shigeru Akiba (Etsushi Toyokawa). When her fiance Itsuki was alive, Shigeru and Itsuki were mountaineering partners. After Itsuki’s death, Shigeru thought very seriously of marrying Hiroko. But the memory of Itsuki was a barrier between them. Soon, Hiroko discovers that the reply came from her fiancé’s classmate and namesake, Istuki Fujii, a woman. The two women begin a strange correspondence.

Kim Soo Hyun and Park Hae Jin revealed to be strong candidates for new vampire historical drama

Kim-Soo-Hyun-park-hae-jin_1422902510_af_

Popular webtoon 'Scholar Who Walks the Night' will be remade into an MBC drama! A historical drama that also takes on the fantasy genre with vampires, this remake might even star 'You Who Came From the Star's Kim Soo Hyun or Park Hae Jin!

Key East Entertainment's subsidiary Contents K revealed on February 2, "Currently, 'Scholar Who Walks the Night' has finished its plans and is in positive talks with MBC with July as our set goal. After this is confirmed for 'Scholar Who Walks the Night,' we plan to go into the major casting stage. Right now, nothing is decided. We plan to enter production after releasing an official statement soon when we settle everything."

The story follows vampire Kim Sung Yeol, who boasts amazing aesthetics. Two strong candidates named to play this male lead are Kim Soo Hyun and Park Hae Jin, although it appears too soon yet for any confirmation. Park Hae Jin's agency stated, "Currently, he is not confirmed for the role."

The drama will be written by Jang Hyun Joo of 'Coffee Prince' and directed by Producer Lee Sung Joon of 'The Moon That Embraces the Sun' and 'Empress Qi' to likely premiere in July.

Setting my biased feelings for KSH aside, I don't think Paek Hae Jin has the aura and presence similar to that of a male lead to steer a drama.  He is good as the second lead hands down, but I just can't see him as the male lead at all.  I really hope KSH is cast for the protagonist- I will be over the moon if he takes it: a supernatural/historical drama... I love it !

Don't worry, you and everyone else will definitely know from the Hallelujah/ It's About Damn Time threads that I will make [emoji38]

Lmao it's just that there's been quite a few proposals for KSH, yet he rejected all of them. I know he doesn't want to disappoint the public, but rejecting any of them isn't the answer. He's going to have to play a role before his military enlistment, so whether it be this or that role, he needs to PICK. Besides, apparently 'Producer' is The One because it's from the same team who produced 'The Stars'. If he doesn't pick that role, I don't know if he'll ever choose one.

I know that after the success of You From Another Star, there's a lot of pressure for Kim Soo Hyun to pick a good project (drama), which is why he may be hesitating to take on another drama. I really hope that he accepts the role because this drama sounds like a winner. I haven't been so excited about a drama since I heard about Healer, which was back in September, although I wasn't nearly as excited about Healer as I am about Producer.

What is 'Producer' about exactly?

Tell him that.

About a rookie PD (KSH) vs. long time PD Cha Tae Hyun

The showbiz drama comes from star variety PD Seo Soo-min (Superman Returns, 1 Night 2 Days Season 3) and You From Another Star writer Park Ji-eun. It stars Cha Tae-hyun as a 10-year veteran variety PD with a mile-long list of credits to his name, but none of them are noteworthy in any way. Kim Soo-hyun plays the rookie PD who ditches the path to becoming a prosecutor and heads to work at the variety department of a TV network.

http://www.dramabeans.com/2015/02/cha-tae-hyun-to-play-veteran-variety-pd-to-kim-soo-hyuns-rookie/

If everything goes well then it will be Gong Hyo Jin/Cha Tae Hyun and KSH/IU as love interests I guess.

No more dashed hopes, please.

So, he's done a musical ('Dream High' - somewhat successful), a historical ('Moon' - success), a fantasy ('The Stars'- success) and this one will be comedy?

That's why I'm trying not to get too excited.

Rom-com I guess - I think it will sort of have the bickering tone between the love interests like Do Minjoon& Cheon Songyi had in Stars - I can practically see Gong Hyo Jin and Cha Taehyun fighting already [emoji38]

Hold your horses, the drama hasn't happened yet [emoji38]

I'm excited for the drama regardless of whether he is in it or not; at this point I know not to get carried away with his drama news.

I'll show any bit of interest when there is an explosion of news saying his officially picking a role. No offense but when will his CF's end? No matter how much I like him, I'm slightly getting sick of seeing him in endorsements lol

Most of his CFs recently got renewed so you will be seeing more of them lol; just pray he doesn't get more tbh. I don't even understand why he has some of them considering they are basically the same products; e.g. The Faceshop/Lemona aren't they both beauty products lines. But they must be paying well so he's cashing in - he has about 25+ currently.

Fml seriously, I swear some will leave the fandom if he signs up for any more CF's. Enough is enough. Sorry, I'm not a die-hard fan who says anything with KSH in it, whether it's CF or not, is the best. There comes a limit when he is overdoing it, and that point came some time ago!

The timeslot could be an issue; but it seems to work for cable tv hit show so hopefully it means the same this. Also with the later airing time; this means they can be a bit more daring.

I like daring given none of his work so far explore the dark side of drama. I'd like to see that in his drama if poss!

Second banana [emoji38]

I think they are both the male leads (4 including GHJ and IU) + plus he is the main draw especially internationally. The fan wars on Soompi over who is the main lead are ridiculous though.

it's probably because he is his senior that his fans want bragging rights - they think it's insulting if he isn't the main lead over "hallyu star" ksh [emoji38]. they were playing the "he's the lead. no he's the lead" game in the drama thread when it was announced. shit got real lol but it calmed down the last time i checked.

she's meant to be an ice princess top idol, so i'm anticipating some bitchy high maintenance character (with a soft heart of course  ). i can just picture her screaming about how the lighting is not perfect and her torturing her poor assistant and manager.

I would think the Second Male lead would be KSH because he's younger and the other is his sunbae. I don't know, whatever happens though, it's going to be a good drama ! Can't wait !

hello guys

Hello [emoji2]

So excited for this new drama!

I'm actually surprised since it's Gong Hyo Jin and she's one of my favorite actresses in the KDrama industry.

I AM SO STOKED. SO FREAKING STOKED.

I need more Kim Soo Hyun in my life please.

I watched Gong Hyo Jin in 'Master's Sun', her acting is first class!

True, but I don't think there will be much difference/distinction between CTH, GHJ and KSH.

OMG this drama is going to be so big! Quite a few big names here... let it take the world by storm

hi guyys

so i'm derping aroung getting myself excited over producer and loved the first lines of this article

Jo Yoon-hee to cameo in Producer as Kim Soo-hyun’s first love

Aw man, was Chun Song-yi busy? I know, I know, we can’t actually encourage more Do Manager associations for Kim Soo-hyun’s new drama; (article)

:hurr: :hurr:

the do min joon fever just wont end. I need this producer asap!

I don't want to encourage anymore "The Stars" either, but coupling with Chun Song-Yi was the best Korean drama couple I've ever seen (second to that of the main couple in 'Summer Scent')
