Jolin Tsai (traditional Chinese: 蔡ä¾æž—) (born in Hsinchuang City, Taipei County, Taiwan on 15 September 1980) is a popular Taiwanese singer and dancer. Since her debut in 1999, she has been one of the most influential artists in the Chinese Music Industry. She is called "Asia's Dancing Queen" due to her diversity of dancing styles, such as pole dancing, ribbon dancing, and gymnastic movements, and she is regarded as a pop diva in the Asian music market. She has won the Best Mandarin Female Singer at the 18th Golden Melody Awards and Best Song of the Year at the 24th Golden Melody Awards.

My Review of Jolin Tsai

So here we are with Jolin Tsai, one of the biggest names in cpop and is also my favorite cpop artist. She has a ton of albums and a ton of good songs. I actually had to stop myself from posting more songs so if you don’t see your favorite songs or whatever, that’s the reason why. It’s a nice problem to have for these threads. Feel free to post your favorite songs that you don’t see here. And any nice pics/gifs too hehe.

I put Love Love Love first, so you guys should know what that means by now. It means that it’s my favorite Jolin song. I don’t know why I like it so much but I do. It’s the song that got me interested in her music and I never looked back. I think the rest of the songs are a nice mixture of some of her older and newer songs, nothing too old though since I think the oldest song listed is from her See My 72 Transformation album released in 2003.

As usual though, I am not scared of pointing out weaknesses because I am a fan and not a fanboy. There is no denying that Jolin isn’t a great singer. She really struggles to sing ballads sometimes because her vocals are weak and it isn’t exactly a pretty voice either. Not to say she doesn’t have good ballads though, because I do like some of her ballads. And as much as I love her and “The Great Artistâ€, she cannot perform that song live if her life depended on it. Sounds downright terrible to me but it might be a difficult song to perform live…idk. I saw she has the title of “Asia’s Dancing Queen†but I don’t see why. Her dancing has never impressed me. I will say that she is a really hard worker and puts everything she has into her work even if I don’t care for her choreo.

A lot of people who aren’t familiar with cpop will think that it’s all ballads, and it is true that there are a lot of ballads but there are pop songs too. Not every upbeat cpop song deserves to be accused of copying kpop. It gets really annoying how some young kpop fans think like this. Jolin has been doing pop songs for a long time and she is good at it. When “The Great Artist†came out I think some people were surprised and didn’t know that cpop artists were capable of doing a song like that. So initially I didn’t want to do the big named cpop artists like Jolin, Jay, Elva, etc… because who hasn’t heard of them yet? But now I’m kinda glad that someone requested her. People should definitely check her out if they haven’t already.

I should change the title of these from “review†to “random thoughts and tangents that pop in my head while i’m typingâ€â€¦

I stopped following c-pop recently since I got into k-pop so the songs I like are kind of old...

But these are some of my favourites:

åšä¸€å¤©çš„ä½

倒帶

天空

She's definitely in my top five favourite c-pop artists so I could probably list like 20 songs from her LOL

Love her too much, she my favorite cpop artist aswell. I somewhat agree that she isnt the best vocalist out there but she doesnt need to be, the songs that are made to fit her abilities like fantasy, beast, color photos etc. are pure gold. My favortie songs from her a definetly her ballads, her "weak" voice actually transmits tons and tons of emotion in to the songs aka Wandering poet and I. Her dancing is superb but its more on the "classical" part of dance.

oh i agree she doesn't need to be a great singer. I rather have mediocre vocals and great songs than the other way around.

I think Sweet and Sour is Suan Tian in pinyin?

With ballads in general I find I like softer voices that have a lot of emotions versus a strong technical vocal.

That's why I really love Jolin's voice <3

Some more ballads I love:

檸檬è‰çš„味é“

I used to cry to this song LOLOLOL

你快樂嗎

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz174-YQSBc&list=AL94UKMTqg-9CDn0iLV5-iLs3stRAvXcQK

This is one of her very early songs <3 a classic <3

I never really listened to much upbeat songs in c-pop, but I really like this one:

舞娘

Yoga Lin did a slow cover of this song and it was amazing too!

Jolin Tsai is definitely one of the queens of C-pop.  It has already been 15 years since she entered the Taiwanese music and entertainment industry, and she continues to be very a very active artist to this today.  And man, she is already 33 years old but she still looks great!

Young Jolin:

Current Jolin:

Her name will forever be remembered in the history of C-pop.

Jolin ~~ <3

She was the very first female artist that I listened to when I start listening to music.  :ahmagah:

I love how Jolin is a very versatile singer. Her ballads are gorgeous and though she may not be a good singer, her good qualities outweighs the bad. Plus, she's a superb dancer.

One of my favorite song of hers:

(of course music compositions by Jay Chou are the best <3)

I became a fan roughly five years ago when I was on BoAjjang and someone linked Agent J. Since then, I have been a huge fan of Jolin (and her amazing rack).

i clearly asked for pics and gifs. Where are they?

my fav album from her!

Though i don't think i used a song from it. The whole album is so solid that nothing stood apart. So i had trouble picking a song from it.

Used to be a fanatic, I mean most of her tracks are catchy and dancing diva album was a huge hit back in 2006 and Agent J after that.

While I have to agree Jolin is not a GREAT live singer, she is definitely one of the more consistent and better female singers out there in C-pop.

Some of my fav songs,

å•身公害

一個人

说爱你
