TrueColors 582
Help! I have a job interview tomorrow, but I've never had one before... What is some advice that could help me land the job? Thanks!
purpleprint 1,923
Look at the company profile, read their brief history and their aim/scope. Study the job desc in the vacancy, form an idea about the job. Then, just relax and be yourself! If you're not hired, it doesn't mean that you are doing bad. Maybe the job is not even suitable for you, or the team is not suitable for you! I have heard interview cases where they hire the second best person because their character is what needed within their team compared to the best candidate. Good luck! Stepkdramafan226 6,734
Be confident, do your research on the position that you are applying for. Always have a question and one that relates to what you have learnt so far about the prospective position.

solis 10,336
good luck! some general advice: -make sure your outfit is appropriate (for mine, I just wore a simple white shirt and black dress pants with black flats, but some companies might prefer you to dress more professionally than that.. but basically they just don't want you showing up in dirty, ripped clothes if you can avoid it) -make sure you're not wearing super strong perfume or cologne if you're into that - some people are sensitive to strong scents -try to eat something before you go so you're not starving during the interview -try to arrive at least 15 minutes early and check in with someone there and let them know you're there for an interview
PromiscuousBunny 3,686
Dress professional, be confident, don't rush your answers, be courteous, learn about the company before hand, make sure you have your resume and references with you, make eye contact + straight posture, arrive at least 10-15 minutes early and don't be on your phone while waiting. This is what I learned and its worked for me.
aeromancy 1,186
At the end when they ask if you have any questions make sure you have some to ask!! It shows that you prepared, are interested in the job, and you can learn more about the position. Do your research and try to find questions to ask, but if not you can find some generic ones online Also arrive early but not too early. 5-10 minutes is the sweet spot though after reading the other replies I guess it depends on the place? Overall, just try to relax and remember that you're 'interviewing' your employer just as much as they are you. Good luck
Sailor Mars 1,981
Have questions! Normally I ask what THEY like and dislike about their job! This gives me an idea of what I might like and hate about it. Plus i'm curious and they seem to like that i take them by surprise! Don't be nervous! And when they ask about what you are like as a person don't say "i'm smart" they'd be able to tell, don't say "i'm nice" that's boring. Think about that and come up with at least 3 good traits about yourself, maybe ask your friends! Good luck!
