According to new reports, the debut of YG Entertainment’s new boy group with Bang Ye Dam, the runner-up of “K-Pop Star 2,†has been pushed back.

Previously, it had been reported that preparations were under way for YG’s new boy group with Bang Ye Dam to debut in July 2017. At the time, YG claimed it would be debuting its youngest boy group yet, with the members being 15-17 years old.

Instead, Bang Ye Dam will be joining other YG trainees in a survival program aimed for the second half of this year. The program will be similar to those that produced iKON and WINNER, and will likely be headed by PD Han Dong Chul, who recently signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment. PD Han Dong Chul is known for his work on music variety shows like “Produce 101†and “Show Me the Money,†and it remains to be seen how his expertise will influence YG’s survival show.

YG's survival shows are odd.

I wonder if the pd is going to get the wish he wanted out of produce 101 season 2. Season 2 turned out to be a friendship show like season 1 but he wanted some male on male aggression to spice things up.

He's going to get a ton of Anti's if he's already confirmed, it seems so pointless because he's 99% guaranteed to debut anyway, he has the largest fanbase out of all the trainees but then this whole show is pointless. FOCUS ON THE GROUPS YOU CURRENTLY SUCK AT MANAGING

FOCUS ON THE GROUPS YOU CURRENTLY SUCK AT MANAGING

I was lurking on reddit and there seems to be a consensus that YG has given up on trying to make WinKon EXO/BTS level and YG's trying to reset by starting from scratch with a new group - there's rumors that unlike Mix N Match/Win, this show might be a popularity contest.

What is wrong with him. The reason Ikon and Winner aren't super popular is because of his management style, Exo / BTS / 95% of Idol groups have never gone a year without dropping an album/mini/more than 2 songs. They have the talent, he just screws with them too much. Look at what he's doing to Black Pink, 1 song after hyping it up as a big comeback, they only have 4 songs and they're almost a year old.

He doesn't need a reset button he needs to fire himself and appoint someone that knows how promote Idol groups, because regardless of how popular this group becomes no one can Stan a group that doesn't consistently produce music & that they rarely see on tv.

Ooh a mess. Love it already.

Can already see all the petty and bitter shade this kids gonna get from both the contestants and their eventual fans.

But for the love of god, just debut one group from this show. That's the whole point of it being a survival show.

Lol. That's funny.

Obvious reason is that companies need fresh blood to keep the pipeline going while giving new groups time to establish themselves. His problem was waiting 8 years to debut another boy group and 7 years to debut another girl group.

Starting next year, there's no BB to backstop all these groups.

TBH even with IKON's tours and BP/Winner's digitals, I doubt they're bringing in the kind of money Big Bang and 2NE1 were profiting for the company especially during the times that both were active.

I really feel this new group will be more tailor-fit to the current trends: more fanservicey, more visuals but with that distinct YG style.

This article that this person sourced doesn't say anything about Bang Yedam being a host/MC...? imstupid.png

Here's a quick translation I did below for anyone interested:

Kpop Star 2 runner-up Bang Yedam is reportedly making an appearance on YG Entertainment’s new upcoming selection program. It is still unclear exactly what role Bang Yedam is supposed to take on, but expect a new type of survival program that departs from already existing/pre-existing ones.

According to the 20th, Bang Yedam will be showing viewers his growth in the second half of the year, when YG’s new rookie competition program is expected to launch. It has been a while since the last time he met with viewers in 2013’s SBS audition program Kpop Star 2.

As previously reported, Osen alone was told in advance about the launch of YG’s new competition program. According to what has been gathered, Bang Yedam will be playing a large role in this program and will participate along with YG’s secret weapon of ~30 male trainees . It is expected to be a different program from ‘Big Bang TV’, ‘WIN: Who is Next’, and ‘Mix & Match’. YG’s edition of ‘Produce 101’ will provide completely different content and different experience from existing survival programs.

In particular, YG Entertainment has recently recruited a large number of talented people and is foreseeing the successful launch of the program. The successful creator of cable channel MNET’s ’Produce 101’, ‘Show Me the Money’, ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ PD Han Dongchul, SMTM seasons 4 &5’s PD Lee Sangyoon and PD Choi Hyojin, and around 20 PDs specializing in music and the arts will be involved.

As the best and most influential people in the music and entertainment field are gathering, this newcomer competition program is expected to be a hot and popular issue. We look forward to seeing how YG’s new survival program will proceed with the gathering of Bang Yedam, the hidden card, talented YG trainees, and the talented and best PDs.

Thanks. The info first provided made no sense. Why give a 15 year old boy MC duties?

Ikon probably brings in more than 2ne1. All of YG acts probably can't bring in what BB as a group and individually bring in.

It's 2017 and YG still finding another bigbang (sorry, the truth is neither group from YG nor outside YG can be like bigbang)

I don't against the survival things, but the timing is not good.. Better focus on what you have.. And here's GD want to say something LOL

There's no other Big Bang. Huge as a group and huge individually.

Like I said on another thread, YG hired all these PDs, they need to go to work. New programs for outside YG, new programs to include YG and YGK+ folks, new programs to bring in money.
