I think it's time to accept Nuest as we know it is pretty much over

All three guys except Ren have great chances of debuting tomorrow night.

No Nuest activities till 2019. By that time so many things will have changed and their Pledis contract will also end by then.

With military enlistment looming, I just don't see a comeback plausible even with a subunit - this is even less plausible if 3 nuest guys make it to top 11 tomorrow night.

The members who don't make it can go ahead and get their military service over.

Even if they enlist its not gonna save Nuest, as a matter of fact that presses the point that the group is over much more.

I imagine they might do a reunion stage in the future but never really return as Nuest conventionally. They're in a ZeA situation now. Tbh their fans would have been smarter if all boys made top 20 but not debut in top 11 then Nuest will be saved and it woukd have been a better long term prospect tbh.

Pretty much no matter what happens tomorrow, Nu'est will have problems for at least 18 months. Jonghyun and Minhyun are almost certain to make it, and Dongho has a pretty good chance too. That's the main vocal, lead vocal and rapper gone, right there. That leaves one sub-vocal and one rapper.

They're still young (BaekMinRen are 21, Jonghyun is 22 and Aron is 24), so even if the three of them takes 18 months to come back, there could still be time for the entire group to ride off the following popularity, right?

Frankly? No. By that point group dynamics will be off tangent with public relevancy among all the members having too wide of a gap.

poor ren. why isn't he making it? I thought he would be really popular

Imo one of the main reasons would be the lack of screen time for Ren specifically. And there're also a lot of times he was seen in the corner without a mic on so you could really see mnet have no intention to push Ren.

JR and Minhyun have a really high chance of making the top11, but if Baekho doesn't, they could still promote as a unit tho. I would stan a NU'EST BaekARen tbh

even if one of them makes it, nu'est will be on hiatus till 2018. there wouldn't be any subunits to consider when the name 'nuest' is a target for hate for pledis boys and could probably cause needless misunderstanding and inconvenience for the member that makes it. since they joined the program, it's already expected that nu'est will not be the same anymore.

Any music would likely have to wait till 2018 (for subunits) and 2019 for full group, but let's be honest, when as the fandom never waited? 18months is the same time we waited from Sleep Talking to Good Bye Bye, and from Good Bye Bye to Overcome. With any one boy in BOI, and remaining members having new opportunities, that means we still get new material while waiting. It's not that tough.

Even then I look positively. Word has it that OC members have renewed their contract because they wanted to do music together, and I feel that the boys might do that too. Even with enlistment, the boys are really not that old, they're 95-liners, that makes them 24 years old when they come back as nu'est, enlistment is a far date for them all. we've faced more disbandment rumors in the last 3 years and with them finally getting some recognition, we're looking at disbandment again? Let's not.

if you like them, why not support them in present time and walk with them and just see how it goes.

they're so young. if they still continue as Nu'est from 2019 onwards, there would be 5 years left for them to continue promoting before they have to enlist. that's like 10 centuries in K-Pop years.

yes, let's just put our trust in them

as Jonghyun said

Don't worry, 18 months hiatus (at least they're active as b.o.i) is nothing compared to the time Pledis shipped them to Japan and cut off several promotions on Korea.  Pledis have trained fans long before P101 happened imstupid.png As Animeuver said, LOVEs waitied roughly 1.5 years after Sleep Talking, and again after Good bye bye era. Note that in that hiatus they practically vanished from korean music industry because they're hustling their ass in Japan. Compared to that situation now, this 101 hiatus is actually a blessing because we still can see them as b.o.i. If Pledis are smart, they will push the remaining members to do individual activities to keep the hype on until their comeback.

Also about military enlistment, aren't they so young, like 23? Many male idols enlist on their late 20s or even 30s like Bigbang members and super junior, so they have all the time in the world. FYI, boygroup's peak usually won't even last more than 2 years, they have 5 years that's a lot of time. For example, Infinite peaked at 2011 until about 2013, during that time they have established their fandom, making a lot of money, getting tons of varietiy show and cfs.I'm sure Nu'est can still do a lot of things after their contract with Mnet finished.

So, yeah, i agree Nu'est as we know is pretty much over because after this they will rise from ashes like a phoenix. Bye bye flop Nu'est, hello new Nu'est meowfaceplz.png

Even if some members don't make it to Top 11, it's not like they're completely nugu. All of them made it to Top 20, so there is definitely some public recognition. Much better than more than half of the contestants whose face barely showed up for more than 2 seconds on screen. If Pledis plays their cards right they can keep all the members active, some through OIO and others through a subunit with Aron or individual activities. It's a much better situation to be in compared to before

I think the biggest problem is not the hiatus until end of 2018 b/c BOI, but whether or not they renew their contracts which expire in March 2019.

I think people forget that prior to pd101 Ren's popularity was already high enough to score himself solo activities (modelling, acting etc). He can do the same during the hiatus to maintain relevancy (people are forgetting that prior to the show Ren is Nu'est's main stan attractor and his overseas popularity is still there).

I personally don't think MNet will allow any company to debut more than 2 people in BOI, and between Minhyun and Dongho, Minhyun has the better chance but either of their individual popularity from pd101 is enough for Pledis to get them OSTs like Raina.

That also leaves Nu'est with a rapper, a vocal and their visual, which is not bad for a sub group. Hopefully Pledis is willing to take a risk and do a subgroup like that.

The biggest issue is whether they renew in 2019, and with all the posts I've been reading about how Pledis treated them, I don't see all five renewing their contracts. After BOI there will be companies that want the members who made the group, but will any company want to sign all five? Even if they somehow manage to all sign under one company, they won't have rights to the Nu'est name and their old songs.

So what this comes down to is whether all five renew their contracts with Pledis. Do you think that will happen? I won't based on how they were treated according to their fans, but I'm not them so...

I beg to humbly disagree. Whatever happens tomorrow night, I know a lot of fans will continue loving them. I will have my hopes up, they've been through worst, I will believe in them, support them and wait for them, and I know I'm not alone. smile.png

This is not the end, the boys are just beginning ... and as a new fan, I am more than happy to wait for 18 months for my boys to come back as Nu'est. They've gained many loyal fans and we're all excited for their future post-PD101, whatever it may be. They've stuck together for 6 years and have gone through longer hiatus and worse times. Ren was phenomenally more popular than the other boys before PD101 and they were fine with it. The unbalance of popularity isn't going to hurt them, they've gone through it all.

They're such strong individuals and they have so much respect for one another. They wouldn't have gone on this show if they were only looking for an easy way out; they went on this show together so they can stay together. As a fan, I am not worried, I am going to continue supporting all 5 boys and wait for them to slay us with their comeback as Nu'est ~

everyone thinks if only 2 members were to make it it would be JR minhyun but i think JR and dongho have the biggest individual followings in pd101 so I personally think dongho will make it. I think the best two suited members to make it would, however, be minhyun and JR and in the meanwhile Dongho could easily have a successful solo - given his individual following. Hey who knows 3 of them might make it.
