Boygroups who might be affected by the debut of Broduce boyband (BOI)

This boygroup, just with the mere inclusion of Park Jihoon and Kang Daniel will get all the fangirls. Add to that 9 other guys with big fanbases of their own (especially if fan favorites like Bae Jinyoung or Lai Guan Lin manage to get in)

Who are the boy groups who would probably be directly affected this year by this debut?

My thoughts

- Pentagon

- NCT (all units)

- ASTRO (but Cha Eunwoo is getting that public relevancy, but as a group...they're still rising)

- SF9

-Up10tion

- Victon

All these groups are in the process of building their fandoms but all potential fans will have their eyes on BOI, at least for the rest of 2017 unless these groups come up with a mindblowingly amazing song.

All 14-17 rookies except GOT7,SEVENTEEN,WINNER and iKON

Because only those 4 have established fandoms and solid fanbase

I can imagine IKON getting affected if they don't try reaching out more to the Korean GP through more TV appearances - their fandom has been dwindling. There will be a surge of boyband debuts this year (it won't end with BOI, KBS is doing their own idol show too) and it would benefit IKON if they stabilize their relevancy in Korea first.

Winner is almost Block B level. They're stable but definitely more GP oriented, not fandom-powered.

Woollim's new group aka Golden Child.

Oh yeah

Cha Eun Woo would succeed more if he left ASTRO.

Boygroups that will debut this summer (or the rest of the year).

Pretty much a lot of developing boygroups will be affected (obviously not affect established boygroups like BTS (they need one nation hit and they'll become "legend"), EXO, Winner (GP fave),.....)

accurate.

considering all 2016 gg debuts except blackpink went down after IOI debuted, this may be a problem for other 2017 debuts too. or maybe we just won't see any because companies will be vary about debuting new bgs when the cream of the crop is being formed this weekend.

I don't know if I'd use the word affected. If a group is doing badly, that's on them, it's not because another group's popularity is harming them. The only time I can see other groups might be "affected" is if 101 dominates music show rankings. But as far as physical and digital sales, if a group has good songs and a strong fanbase, I don't think that'll change much.

This 101 group will be HUGE. That's why the contract is two years this time. They'll probably do concerts as well since that's very lucrative.

  • 4 weeks later...

I think affected is just strange word.

I mean, Wanna One isn't permanent group, so i doubt many ppl dumb their bias just for fully stanning Wanna One.

But no doubt, when they announce their album release, MV, and etc. Everybody will focus to them, so those nugu groups will be forgetted atm.
