The song can still be used without the rap part, as it is usually used in the drama, but since this was promotional outside of two minute plays during the drama, rap part added speciality to it and made it prettier in my opinion. The soft rap suited the song and I don't think the song would have been anything better without it, sorry not sorry. I always thought kris's rap was out of place in my lady: it's at 1:54. Oh if it's not about adding rap but is about adding "Chanyeol's rap", then I guess it depends on taste too. Some boy groups here and there too For me, if the rap parts is blended with the song it sounds great GD's parts in Pallette and Complex for example They made the songs even greater and they had their own color which blended well with the song!!
